Default Is the criticism towards Flacco underserved?

I never understood why Flacco always gets bashed and criticized for the Ravens shortcomings(mostly during the regular season) . Yes, at times in the regular season he struggles but that can even be credited towards the poor playcalling and lack of weapons at times. However, He's a great playoff QB and he always comes up huge in big games... always.. I still think there's some untapped potential in him with his great arm, big frame and postseason success.

Because he is inconsistent. If you think Flacco won the game opposed to the Broncos losing the game, then I'd laugh at you. Pretty easy to throw a long pass to a wide open WR to a retarded and uncoordinated DB in Rahim Moore.

I could say the same thing about Denver getting lucky with two special teams TD's. Flacco had a great game, made no mistakes and made denver pay multiple times with his arm. He won the game for Baltimore

Flacco is tolerable because he's had some clutch moments like the end of regulation yesterday but he is inconsistent and inconsistent quarterbacks have doubters. He's certainly worthy of a starting job but he's no superstar.

How is getting two ST TD's lucky? Have your shitty team not play stupid on ST and it won't happen.

Because it's not a consistent source of offense. How many other games has that returner for the Broncos had 2 TDs this season? I'd bet the answer is 0. It's the equivalent of counting on Tony Delk to score 50 based on the idea that he did it once before.

It doesn't mean its luck. Luck would be getting a pick 6 in Manning's firs INT. Tip ball? And there should have been a PI Call.

How is one play luckier than the other? In fact I think I read in the Manning thread that Manning has 21 interceptions in 20 playoff games. So a Manning INT is far more common than a punt or kick return TD. The interception getting returned for 6 is more about luck in the way that the offense is positioned to stop the returner but a kick return TD normally requires a special teams mistake. How is a pick-6 luckier than a two kick return TD game? You aren't making sense.

The context of the pick, idiot. If Manning literally threw the ball right to the DBs hands, fine, that is his fault and that's not luck at all, but that wasn't the case. It was a WR tipping the ball who should have got a PI call which landed in a DB's hands. Pretty lucky. Lucky that a WR tipped the ball in the drop and lucky that the officials were trying to rig the game for a murderer.

I don't know someone can say a special teams play was "luck" and if you do think that I don't think you know what luck means. Broncos ST is just good, or the Ravens ST defense just sucks.

Either way, I don't understand the point of this discussion, Flacco is inconsistent, you are an idiot, and so is the OP.

Not in the mood for an insult fight. Picks happen on tipped balls. If you don't get that that would make you the idiot here. Regardless, we're done.

And TDs are allowed on STs if you don't know how to defend it.

You basically considered Flacco's TD bomb lucky since the DB misplayed it but you fail to consider how Denver got lucky with two ST TD's and claim that it was more earned than Flacco's bomb.

forget flacco. but i know how excited you were when kaep threw that pick 6 in the beginning. you were gathering your I TOLD YOU SO words to make that thread here. than you reluctantly watched the rest of that game and sighed heavily knowing harbaugh made the right decision and your man-crush on alex smith would have to continue elsewhere

Default Re: Is the criticism towards Flacco underserved?

I think especially this year he put a lot of pressure on himself by saying he was an elite QB so it was a level of play people expected him to sustain all year. There were times, especially at the start of the season, that he was showing flashes of the potential to be up there but he also followed it up with a few duds which contributed to the OC getting fired.

The beginning of his playoff career wasn't exactly anything to write home about, but his past 2-3 playoff games he has elevated himself a bit and the team finds ways to advance.
