Default Does anyone believe that a team besides Heat/Lakers/Thunder can win it all this year?

There is only one team imo that even though they are on a lower level, they have the poise and maturity to get it done. That team is the celtics

-They have a good bigman rotation in KG,bass, wilcox, fabmelo, and jeff green playing the stretch 4.

-they still have a guy willing to take the big shots in pierce

-rondo I believe will have the best year of his career and will challenge paul for the best pg in the league title

-avery bradley has come into his own as a player and is being recognized as one of the top perimeter defenders in the league

-jeff green missed all of last season and is now healthy. He will be getting those back up small forward and pf minutes.

-even with the loss of ray allen they are still good at the 2guard spot with jason terry and courtney lee (they may have actually upgraded a tidbit). Even though ray is the better player, jason terry averaged more points last season and has the ability to get superhot as well as he is never scared of the big shot.

No they do not match the talent of the big 3 (heat, lakers, thunder) but they have the know how and correct pieces where if they move as a unit, they have a strong chance of making the finals, and at that point anything can happen.

MAYBEEEEE San Antonio, but thats it.

I actually believe Celtics will come out of the East, but they'll be overpowered by either the Thunders/Lakers.

Yes, realistically Celtics and Spurs could. Hell this could/should have been the finals matchup last season.

And there are a few other teams with a slighter chance who could if things really break right for them.

The C's have better depth than any one of those teams. Take a closer look at the roster.

Celtics can do it but it all depends on them playing excellent team ball on offense. What they lack in individual talent will have to be made up by having superior depth and superior defense.

The OP forgot Darko too.

Rondo, Lee, Terry, and Bradley projects to be our best backcourt rotation since DJ, Ainge, Sichting, and Vincent.

Rondo - one of the best pg in the league

Lee - excellent defender, wing player and 3-point shooter

Terry - one of the best 6th men, instant offense

Bradley - stalwart defender and improving offensive player

Only trouble is that they are smallish - Lee being the only one over 6'2"...

Nope. I'm a realist.

Heat over Thunder but
Thunder over Lakers but
Lakers over Heat

Their top 3 players, Pierce, Garnett and Terry, and grandpa in terms of basketball age. It's 2012, not 2002. Please come back to reality!

If they are grandpas then so are Kobe and Jamison, and Nash is already dead. Gasol and Artest are on the wrong side of 30 too. At least the Celtics have an assortment of young players to breach the difference.

But hey, this is ISH, were agendas reign, not reality!

Difference is Nash is still a top 5 PG, Kobe is still a top 5-6 player and Gasol is still a top 3-5 PF.

Not close to the same comparison.

Rondo is not one of the Celts top 3 players.

The Celtics actually have a top-5 group - Rondo, KG, PP, Terry, and Green. Watch the Green bandwagon swell as the season goes on.

I agree. Green's gonna be good. 2nd Unit for Celts will be one of the strongest in the league.

The Celtics would beat the Thunder, is what I think.

I say they come out of the East.

Can't help but laugh every time I hear him mentioned as though he's going to be an X-factor that could decide a series. The guy was given a chance in Orlando. He was....underwhelming most of the time and occasionally showed glimpses of being capable of being a 13/10/2+bpg type of player. He put together a decent stretch of games near the end of the 07 season (was a contract year) and the Magic decided he wasn't worth matching. In comes Memphis overpaying for potential. He does the same shit there. On to Minnesota, same old story.

He's had 3 chances since leaving Detroit to have a chance to develop into what everyone hoped he would be. The fact that some of the Celts fans here suddenly think he's suddenly a difference maker that could put them over the top is laughable.
