In what has become the NBAís newest and most spectacular annual tradition, dunk champ Jeremy Evans made the play of the preseason for the second consecutive year. Thankfully, the officials kept themselves out of it this time. Evansí latest highlight consists of three remarkable parts, and I will proceed to remark on each one of themÖ but first, simply marvel at this manís otherworldly athletic abilities.

http://youtu.be/M_CVAJBIwTA

#1: THE BLOCK: When an offensive player sets up to shoot a mid-range jumper, you donít really expect to see a defender appear out of nowhere to swat the shot as if it were a lazy layup attempt at the rim. The upward trajectory of the ball simply makes it difficult for a defender to jump high enough quick enough to spike the high-arcing shot back down towards the floor. Whatís crazy about this block is that Turiaf is actually wide open when he begins his shooting motion. Then, in a total mindf@ck, as if heíd been released from a secret hatch in the Staples Centerís ceiling, Turiaf is suddenly releasing the ball directly into the palm of Jeremy Evansí hand. In all my years of watching NBA basketball, Iím not sure Iíve ever seen anything quite like this; Jeremy Evans literally comes from the restricted area not only to block the shot at 15 feet, but to get so high that Ronny Turiaf is staring at the Jazz logo on his waistband by the time the ball leaves his fingertips. Mind = blown.

#2: THE DUNK: I think we all knew exactly what Evans was trying to do when he collected the ball and took off for the opposite end of the floor. However, I was hardly convinced that he was going to be successful. Having taken off fromÖ probably 12 feet or so, I thought Jeremy was going to come up short. Turiaf had gotten back to contest the finish, so it wasnít like Evans had a clear path to the rim. I figured heíd get fouled and hurl the ball off the front of the rim. Instead, he jammed it with enough authority to rattle the backboard. Once again, mind = blown.

#3: THE HUSTLE: A mere four seconds have passed since Jeremy Evans completed one of the finest end-to-end sequences that any of us have ever seen. Oh, look, there he is back at the other end of the floor, deflecting a full-court pass intended for DeAndre Jordan, who never crossed midcourt. For a third time, mind = blown.

During this sequence, Jeremy Evans covered approximately 188 feet in 11 seconds. Iím pretty sure there are electric cars that canít do that. For f@ckís sake, Jeremy Evans, develop some semblance of a skill set; the regular season needs you!

(Also, if you want to know the "Foreign Guy"'s name that got posterized by Rudy Gay, #44 is Marcus Slaughter, and #16 is Mirza Begic).

Every preseason there seems to be a "foreign guy" on the list. I think I'll just keep it that way.

Fun fact: Lavoy Allen was 14 years old when Gerald Wallace threw down the greatest dunk in preseason history. I wonder… do you think Allen has ever seen that dunk? If so, what the hell was he thinking when he tried to get in the way of Gerald Wallace? Gerald may not jump quite like he used to, but he still gets plenty high enough to humiliate defenders.

Blatant clear out with the off arm, but these officials understand the golden rule of refereeing: a good call should never come at the expense of a better dunk.

Speaking of Physics - kinda related to basketball also - possibly the greatest quote of all-time:

"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." -Issac Newton

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standin...ders_of_giants

Kinda reminds me of:

"I built my talents on the shoulders of someone else's talent. Without Julius Erving, David Thompson, Walter Davis and Elgin Baylor, there never would have been a Michael Jordan. I evolved from them." - Michael Jordan

Wonder who wrote that for him.
