For players in this area you have to decide what's more important/greater or whatever you use to determine your rankings: A player who wins as a 2nd-4th option and has moments/games/series as the star or the player who is the star/alpha but never wins a title and is not consistently a contender.
The later is more likely to receive honors and awards or post exceptional statistics while the former, playing with better teammates sacrafices the numbers and personal accolades for deep playoff runs and Championships and the career defining moments that often come with significant postseason success.
Basically Dennis Johnson, Joe Dumars and Bill Sharman or Tracy McGrady, Pete Maravich and Dave Bing?
