Of course they do. If we don't win the division (quite a big possibility) we'll fight with the Bulls,Pacers and Hawks for playoff positioning and homecourt advantage.
And we can't be happy because no ground was lost. We've been stinking it up as of late and we blew the opportunity to gain some ground again. We lost to a 17-25 Sixers team.

Knicks need to wake up. Playing .500 ball or worse until the end won't get them division title.

The division title means nothing.

You can win your division and still not have home court.

Ask the Celtics about it last year.

The only goal should be the top 2 seeds.

If you win division you won't play any of the top4 teams in the 1st round.

Goal for the Knicks is to finish either 2nd or 3rd. Miami is probably going to be #1 seed so the 4th seed would play Miami as early as 2nd round (of course if both teams advance the 1st round).

This bolded statement is totally wrong.

You can be SEEDED 4th and not be a top 4 team.

Boston was seeded 4th last year, but they weren't a top 4 team, the Hawks had a better record and was seeded 5th, thus the Hawks had homecourt.

Division titles mean nothing....records mean everything.

To win division title you need to have a good record. It's correlated.

And it's not so much about the homecourt,it's about having a better matchup in the 1st round.

East is so close this year,we might end up with the same (or almost the same) number of wins as the Nets and they might end up playing the Bucks while we would have to play against the Bulls. It is certainly possible.

Division titles means nothing man, they just dont, you can win the divsion and be .500, it all depends on what the other teams in that division do.

Early on you said homecourt, that has been proven false, now your saying matchup.

Winning your division does not give you any advantage over an opponent.

Being the 1 or 2 seed usually does....and it aint guaranteed.

Just for example if the playoff started right now we'd play the Bucks, because we have the 2nd best record in the conference, and they have the 7th, has nothing to do with division.

Division isn't at least shouldnt be the goal,...it's a consolation prize.

getting 1 or 2 should be the goal.

Not necessarily but in most cases it does. Winning division guarantees you you're going to play teams ranked 5-8 in the 1st round.
I want us to be the 2nd or 3rd seed just so we can avoid Miami in the potential 2nd round matchup.
I don't think we have a shot at #1 seed.

Winning the division means nothing.

If it doesn't guarantee homecourt, .... the better record still has the advantage

Now if it were like the NHL i'd agree.

But it determines the seeding. I would much rather play against the Hawks without homecourt advantage than against the Bulls with homecourt advantage.

That's just an example.

So you'd rather have a top 2 seed, the others dont guarantee avoidance.

And division winnings certainly doesn't.

Rondo out for the season. That certainly shakes things up a bit. I feel bad for him. Im no Rondo fan. I think he's slightly overrated but he's an extremely hard worker and plays with confidence. I like to see the best compete so it's bittersweet to see him go down like that. Never wanna see a guy with an ACL or some long term injury. Shoulda been KG. "Wrong kid died." j/k (If you saw Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox story you'll get the joke lol)

That was the most BS technical foul I've seen since Joey Crawford gave Tim Duncan a technical for laughing! I get on Melo for the techs but c'mon. That's like giving a guy a penalty for taking his helmet off after getting a concussion on the field.

Worst win of the season. Win is a win though.

What worries me is the fact that this team plays no defense at all anymore.

In the first few games of the season they defended for the whole game.
After that they defended only in the 4th,when they needed it the most.

Lately they don't defend at all,not even when they need it. Hawks scored 30 points in the 4th quarter, and it's not like they were hitting tough shots. It was a layup drill followed by a wide open three point shooting contest.

Melo had a monster game and we barely won. Amare had a nice offensive game but every time he scored he would be the main culprit for the opponents scoring so his impact was basically zero.

This was the same type of game the Knicks played against Miami in game 1 this season, with a few more turnovers.

A shit load of threes.
