Dirk scores only 8, but sloppy Mavericks win in Berlin
It was by no means a masterpiece, but the Dallas Mavericks were able to get out of Berlin on Saturday with an 89-84 victory over Alba Berlin.
The Mavs shot 53 percent from the field but had to overcome a whopping 26 turnovers en route to winning their exhibition opener. The sloppy play may have been something fans might have expected, but coach Rick Carlisle wasn't pleased with the way his team protected the ball.
"We've got a team with a bunch of new guys, and that was evident tonight," Carlisle said. "My job is to get these guys playing together better, and that's what we've got to do in the next couple of days before the next game, because the games aren't getting any easier."
The Mavs complete their two-game European tour Tuesday at 2 p.m. CDT when they play FC Barcelona Regal in Barcelona, Spain.
