Re: Toronto Blue Jays Offseason Thread
From reports, right now it is
Johnson, Buehrle, Reyes, Buck and Bonafacio
for
Henderson Alvarez, Hech, Escobar, Jake Marisnick and Nicolino
I don't understand the need to take the contract of Buck. I understand Buehrle and he actually fills a need, but Buck would be a wasted as just a throw-in. Also, this is another sign that one of D'Arnaud or JP won't be there next year...

C'mon give us Stanton too. Then we don't have to worry about the lineup...

Anthopoulas does it again!
Gets an Ace, a #2, a legit lead-off hitter, and a super fast utility player in Bonafacio.

Re: Toronto Blue Jays Offseason Thread
So the rotation will be?
Johnson
Morrow
Romero
Buehrle
Happ
??
I can deal with that. I worry about Johnson's health and Buehrle maybe getting hammered in the AL East but I'll take the chance.
I friggin' love the lineup with Jose Reyes at the top.

Re: Toronto Blue Jays Offseason Thread
New Lineup
1. Reyes SS
2. Lawrie 3B
3. Bautista RF
4. EE DH
5. Lind 1B
6. Rasmus CF
7. Gose/Sierra LF
8. Arencibia/D'Arnauld C
9. Izturis 2B
or maybe
1. Reyes SS
2. Rasmus CF
3. Lawrie 3B
4. Bautista RF
5. EE DH
6. Lind 1B
7. Bonafacio/Davis LF (this is actually a decent platoon as Bon hits lefties well)
8. D'Arnault/JPA C
9. Izturis 2B
Still a little weak. But one really good LF away from contention.
Ridiculous speed on this team now in Reyes, Bonafacio, Davis, Gose, Lawrie,...

I hope Greinke and Kuroda both go to the Dodgers now. Keep them away from NY and Boston and get them out of the AL altogether. I'd love to have Boston be forced to make a stupid desperation signing like Lohse.

Re: Toronto Blue Jays Offseason Thread
Selig said Thursday he is examining the pending blockbuster trade that sends at least three of Miami's best players to Toronto for a package of prospects just seven months after the Marlins moved into their new home, which was financed primarily with tax money.
Speaking at the conclusion of the owners' meetings, Selig said he also is aware of fan anger in South Florida but is going to do what's in the best interests of the sport.

Rejecting this trade would start up a massive shitstorm that Selig does not want to face. It will go through.

It's already a shitstorm that he didn't want. This is just a cover to make it look like to the public that he isn't going to let his buddy Loria do this.

Jays got their 3rd outfielder. Signed Melky to a 2 year deal, $16 mill.
