Default Re: What do you think of JJ Hickson's game?

Well, last year he started 19 games and in those 19 games he averaged 13.2 points and 9.3 rebounds.

He's just too inconsistent and doesn't have a great bball IQ, but he can flash brilliance at times.

Mayers Leonard looks like a player with a bright future, athletically gifted, decent basketball iq and seems good passer. But foul trouble and a limited offensive game perhaps will prevent him compete to be a starter since day one.

Freeland also is a good center, decent rebounder with good post moves and a good mid range shooter, but health problems have made him lose a lot of athleticism but I do not discount that can become the team's starter at some point.

But definitely Hickson is more talented despite being shorter. I always liked his game and seems motivated in Portland. In my opinion Aldridge as Center and Hickson as PF are the players that will play in the last quarters. Probably Hickson may end up having a role similar to Odom on the Lakers, coming off the bench and playing significant minutes.

Hickson is the starting center because a) he's better than Leonard/Freeland right now b) Aldridge doesn't want to play center (on defense that is).

I expect JJ to have a big year considering he's playing for a big contract next offseason. Hopefully he stays in Portland.

I still think he can be an all star PF if he put in some work. He's very athletic for his size but man did he piss me off when he got the ball and fumbled and lose control of it. I swear I yell at the screen and tell him to wipe the chicken grease off his hands.

Good player who occasionally goes into Beast Mode, and in the right setting could be a 15/10 guy easily.

But...

-small hands and a low B-Ball IQ = lots of turnovers, and a black hole in the paint.

Byron didn't like him and the cavs took Tristan Thompson that summer when they traded him. I think they could have got better value for him than Omri Casspi and a pick that they will never see.

Funny, because I think Aldridge plays very good defense at center...much better than what Hickson would provide.

He put up good numbers last season when the Blazers gave him some playing time. He just turned 24 yrs.old. I think he's gonna be a solid contributor for the Blazers this season.
