Crennel has nothing to do with the offense. He even admitted after today's game that "he doesn't know" why Charles only touched the ball 5 times today.

Yeah, I had a week like that four or five weeks ago. Almost hit the 200 point mark (198) and had two guys go for 30+ and everyone else score 10+. That was in the midst of a 4-game win streak where I was scoring 150+ every week. I was in the middle of a three game losing streak where my team barely broke 100 twice and scored in the 90's once.

This week they bounce back and I have 143 points so far; but I'm only up 143-138 and have Vernon Davis and Patrick Willis going against Frank Gore. Brees doesn't get that late TD, and I'm up 143-130ish and I feel a lot better about my chances. Need Willis to have his usual 8-10 points game and Alex Smith to pull his head out of his ass and actually start throwing to Vernon Davis.

Yeah, I didn't really know about the whole hurricane thing, though.

Woke up about 10:00 this morning, was still trying to decide between Weeden and Hasselbeck, and just checked the latest notes, their last few games, and projections and went with my gut. Weeden was being projected for 21 points and Hasselbeck 20 but I liked Weeden's match-up better.

It would have probably been a nice pick if not for the weather. On the Browns' first possession before the field went to shit, they went right down the field and scored pretty easily. Then, things got really horrendous. There is reason the final was 7-6 and it wasn't the ability of either offense or defense. Really rough game to watch from beginning to end.

Yeah, I was expecting a 27-24 type game or something, then I heard them mention the weather during playing a factor in the ugly game at one point on Redzone or something...and yeah.

Where do people rank Frank Gore right now in terms of RB's?

I'd put him at the tail end of top 10 (probably 9 or 10). The way I see it:
1. Peterson
2. Foster
3. Mccoy
4. Rice
5. Charles
6. Jones Drew
7. Lynch
8. Mcfadden
9. Could be Gore or maybe Steven Jackson.

I like Gore as much as Steven Jackson, both of whom I see as being on the downward treks of their careers (not to say they're bad, but they're getting older and won't see the same production as they have in the past).

I've only been watching football for about 3 years seriously, but would I be wrong in saying that Gore is probably having his best year now out of those last 3?

I'm surprised he's that low on your list, since he always seems to make the right play and gets consistent ground on his runs. I'm still a bit naive about the NFL when it comes to looking for certain qualities, but if ignoring your rankings if you'd never watched football before, where would you say his season ranks right now among the other running backs this season? Would you say stats/impact wise hes top 3 at the moment?

I'm in the same boat as you with seriously following the NFL for about 3 years. Gore is definitely having a good year, but he also was having a really good year in 2010 until he broke his leg in what I think was week 12-14.

The reason he is low on my personal list is because I based my list on backs that I would most want to base a team around for a single season. That is why I have guys like Mcfadden, Mccoy, and Jones Drew in front of him. I also try to look at what kind of O-lines the teams have, because that makes a HUGE difference for a running backs productivity (I think Chris Johnson is still extremely talented, he is just screwed with how bad his o-line is). With that said, I feel like the 49ers have a very good run blocking unit compared to a team like the Raiders or Eagles.

I don't claim to be any sort of expert on the matter, and I'm sure lot's of people would disagree with me, but that's just my 2 cents.

I don't think you can put Steven Jackson up there anymore. The fall for running backs is quick and brutal when they're on the decline.

I think that time has come for Jackson.

Missing Forte on that list and a lot of guys should be ranked above Steven Jackson now.
