Default L.Kizzle's 23 Best Stand-Up Comedy Specials since 1990

Well, the title may be a little misleading. These aren't the top 23, as I only included one special per performer. But close enough, right?

You can make your own post-1990. Rules, no multiple performer tours, so no Kings of Comedy or Blue Collar Tour. No half hour specials like One Night Stand or Comedy Central Presents. One hour or more specials.

In no order:

Chris Rock: Bring the Pain HBO 1996
Damon Wayans: Still Standing HBO 1997
Martin Lawrence: You So Crazy! HBO 1994
Louis C.K.: Shameless HBO 2007
Bill Hicks: Relentless HBO 1993
Mark Curry: The Other Side HBO 1996
Dave Chappelle: Killin' Them Softly HBO 2000
Eddie Griffin: You Can Tell Em I Said It Comedy Central 2011
Tommy Davidson: Illin' In Philly Showtime 1992
Paul Mooney: Jesus is Black and So Was Cleopatra Showtime 2007
Colin Quinn: Long Story Short HBO 2011
Sinbad: Son of a Preachers Man HBO 1996
Steven Wright: Wicker Chairs and Gravity HBO 1990
David Alan Grier: The Book of David: The Cult Figure's Manifesto Comedy Central 2002
Sam Kinison: Family Entertainment Hour HBO 1991
Patrice O'Neal: Elephant In The Room Comedy Central 2010
George Carlin: You Are All Diseased 1999
D.L. Hughley: Unapologetic HBO 2007
Steve Harvey: Still Trippin Showtime 2009
Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong HBO 2010
Wanda Sykes: I'ma Be Me HBO 2009
Kevin Hart: I'm A Grown Little Man Comedy Central 2008
Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction HBO 2009

Bonus:

-And the worst special I have seen goes to the brother of the guy who had the best special I have seen. Charlie Murphy's I Will Not Apologize Comedy Central 2010.

-Most overrated special goes to Mike Epps's Inappropriate Behavior HBO 2005 and Katt Williams' It's Pimpin' Pimpin' 2008.

-Most underrated special(s) goes to two former SNL members. David Spade's Take The Hit HBO 1998 and Tracy Morgan's One Mic Comedy Central 2002.

You really thought Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction was funnier than his Live on Broadway? And you thought Martin Lawrence's was funnier than it too?

I love Martin in movies, but his stand up is straight trash.

I don't remember if I seen the Live On Broadway One, if I did, I probably don;t remember too much of it. I'll check it out on youtube. I seen the Weapons one a few times when it aired and it was funny. I almost didn't add it over some others, but it's Robin Williams and his mediocre is better than others best.

Martin's You So Crazy is funny as hell, maybe you don't dig his comedy.

This is in no order, I can order it for you if you'd like?

I see like 8 white people on that list. And that's probably only because you ran out of black comedians to name

Never seen enough of Jim, and Burr is funny as hell. Just never seen a hour special with him. I've seen on on HBO One Night Stand I believe and was real good.

There is plenty enough of white and black people left.

I didn't include guys like Dennis Miller and Ralphie May. I seen Jim Carrey's special from the early 90s on Showtime and was not good. Larry The Cable guys is funny in a corny way. Ron White would have been my choice for a Blue Collar guy.Jeff Ross and Greg Garraldo are funny in spurts like on those Roast, but I've seen both of their special on Comedy Central, ect.

I didn't include any Jamie Foxx specials. Cedric the Entertainer and Bill Bellamy almost made my list. I did forget JB Smoove's special from earlier this year. Alex Thomas's Straight Clownin' should go in the terrible column.

I thought Jim Gaffigans latest was his funniest, all of his specials are funny but that last one was extra lolish... called "Mr Universe"... he kindof reminds of Will Ferrell

As far Bill Burr go, an hour special i recommend "Let it Go", its on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvAqM1qxsgo

...and oh i forgot one special you might wanna check out "DENIS LEARY - NO CURE FOR CANCER"... its on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVCN8dw5K_A

Yeah, VooDoo Child was great as was the one he released in theaters, Dysfunctional Family. But the one from last year was his best. They play it on Comedy Central every now and then. They need to play it more than those Katt Williams specals they play every weekend.
