Just for the record, Keynes did not support deficit spending on anything like the scale we already engage in (and also suggested paying it off in good times, something that never happens--a political asymmetry he never properly accounted for). America has a gigantic bureaucracy, welfare state, and tax code; they just aren't managed very well, and are too centralised, and thus organised incompetently and wastefully.
"trickle-down economics" is not a real thing either: it is straw man used by the uneducated. If anything, it is simply a platitude which explains why you can afford a computer and flat screen tv when such things were only available for the rich decades ago.
