The NBA seriously does not want to see Kobe suceed anymore. Out of all the stars they seem to dislike Kobe the most since Shaq left. You can see it the way he is officiated against other stars and you see it with this suspension.
Raja Bell clotheslines Kobe = 1 game
Kobe accidentally hits MAnu= 1 game
yet NBA analysts, NBA players, NBA retirees, pretty much all agree Kobe is the best player in the league right now, and that at the end of his career he will be more talented than MJ (but not more successful), and they take the time to make sure everyone knows this on national game broadcasts?
According to the in-game announcers (ABC) Kobe went and checked up on Manu during brake. Why would he do that if it were intentional? Manu took a hit, but it wasn’t malicious. They could’ve just called it a flagrant foul and be done with it.
NBA refs and the people who work in the front office are not omnipotent, they do not know everything that goes on. Stu probably did not know about the Kobe checking on Manu thing. everyone makes mistakes, though they should send him angry emails about this...

i honestly could not see this happening to any other star except Kobe, the NBA villian. This would never happen to Wade, Bron, Tim Duncan, Dirk or Nash.
If that were Wade he would be at the foul line because Manu put his face in the wrong place.

Was it an unnecessary attempt to draw a foul after being blocked cleanly? Yes. Did he need to throw his elbow down to try to buy a foul[proving my point that most of the calls he gets are pretty phantom]? No. He got blocked, got pissed and tried to draw a foul, Gino was just in the wrong place. Should not be a suspension for the contact, but just a small fine or something.
But, since it is a suspension, I don't think the suspension was due to the contact and the hit, but due to the fact the NBA is cutting down on flopping, which is also on the offensive end, and that IS what Kobe tried to do. Flopping on defense = falling down to take a charge, but on offense, it's attempting to draw a foul, off of no contact or a clean block, by flailing your arms. So the suspension is not due to the contact, but due to the flopping and the NBA trying to cut down on it.
If the reason for the suspension is the contact, then I agree, it's a horrible suspension, but I doubt it is.

Wade is a different story because 95% of the time he drives into the paint and does get contact, sure, most of the time he initaites it, but it's still contact. This was also on a 3point shot, not on a drive so it's not comparable. Keep in mind that the flopping has been come into play recently, so the past really has nothing to do with it. It's basically throwing out all the past flops and what not out the door, and trying to focus on any happening right now.

the nba said the suspension was for "striking San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili in the face" it had no mention of flopping or anything else.. the league does not need to suspend players for flopping it can comtrol it by not giving the floppers the call...

Read the last part of my post. I didn't bother reading any of the articles and just posted my opinion after viewing the video a few times. Since that is the case and the suspension is for the hit, then it is a bad call, should have been nothing more then a little fine if anything at all, but my best guess at first was due to the new flopping rule they put in place with the refs paying more attention and suspensions following it along with fines and such.
So it's a suspendable offense to hit a defender in the face now...where the hell was Stu when poor Dikembe was gettin his already hideous face rearranged to a new level of horror by Shaq??
