Good move by the Lakers. Jackson is so old he doesn't have any coaching juices left. He won't even go to all the games because of his health! Just let him be and hire D'Antoni. Sure, he sucks at defense but he's never had a 3x DPOY playing as the goalie.
Now we're REALLY going to see Heat v Lakers in the Finals!
Phil Jackson was asking for 2 years 20 mil, road game restrictions (which he has had throughout his careers and has used), and ownership stake.
But the Jim Buss and co. bitches thought, hey that's too much. So they turned to other options. How do we fix our problems? Oh, well we need to amp up our defense, lets hire a failure of a pure offensive coach who could serve as a mascot for a major potato chip brand, which is what all he's good for; for less money, around the clock fuckery, a tiring and unproven offense, no defense whatsoever in hopes to keep Nash happy and Howard resign in the offseason.

D'Antoni has never had a 3x DPOY. Just let Howard be 100% healthy and he'll take care of D'Antoni's defensive weakness.
Lots of stupid people in this thread who think this is a bad signing. You have a brilliant offensive guru like D'Antoni with the opportunity to coach the best P/R player of our generation along with bonafide studs like Kobe, Gasol and Howard?
You were basically a competent interior defender away from winning titles with the Suns, and now you have the greatest defensive player in the entire league and a 3 time DPOY?
I feel sorry for Thunder fans. Now they know they have no chance to come out of the West.
What's the silver lining in that? A bunch of profession players quit on their coach, so that means he can lead a more veteran roster to a championship where the expectations are on a grand pedestal? Do you honestly think there's a hint of optimism in that? That we want a coach that has such a history where his own players literally give up on him?
Why are people even bringing up the Knicks? Their roster was filth. Utter junk like Chris Duhon, Nate Robinson, washed up Billups, Ray Felton and all that as their PG compared to the legend Steve Nash?
Dwight alone and any 4 park district joes is an elite defensive team.

You keep saying he had DPOY and that didn't do anything to help D'Antoni. I"m saying that didn't do anything because the Knicks quit on him. The Knicks aren't the Lakers. Chandler isn't Howard. So it still remains to be seen what he can do with a DPOY anchoring his defense.
Also, did you all really think the triangle offense would be a great fit for Nash and Howard?
