Cant see the lakers winning this year atm, rather they would have to gel coherently.
Ny roster was put together poorly and had bad chemistry. I'd rather use a more realistic sample size with Suns where he led the top offenses in NBA history, above average defebses, got to the WCF and 2nd round multiple times. People say he didn't win a ring but he was there 4 or 5 years and had some bad luck.

I'm old enough to remember people saying MJ will never win anything with his playing style.
Or Kobe won't win w/o Shaq. Or Dirk is too soft to win. Etc. We just don't know. BTW, how many rings have Larry Brown, Jerry Sloan and Mike Dunleavy combined?

Nobody said the Mavs would win it in 2011. Nobody said the 04 Pistons would beat the Lakers. As CF86 said, nothing is guaranteed. It all comes down to execution.
Re: Mike D'Antoni signs a four-year deal with the Lakers
Suns not winning a ring or two has a lot to do with their two rivals the Spurs and Lakers being dominant and the Suns having no interior defense to stop them. I think Suns could have beaten the east champions in at least two of those years.

So a coach that was regarded as defensive minded, couldn't make an old, bench not having Lakers team play good defense in two years but a coach know primarily as an offensive minded coach is going to improve the Lakers defense?
Are you serious?
You can't fix an aging old roster and no bench whatsoever with coaching changes.
Brown led Cleveland top top five defense status without a big man like Bynum or Dwight. He couldn't do it. But D'Antoni will? lmao
