Default Gortat averaged 15PPG last season running D'Antoni's sytem

...orchestrated by Steve Nash. Imagine what it would do to a healthy Dwight Howard with Nash feeding him the ball.

Gortat and Amar'e can actually hit jumpers.

When has D'Antoni ever thrived with a true low post presence, let alone 2 neither of whom are 3 point threats?

The offense will be good. With that roster anyone could put together an efficient unit that scores over a hundred ppg. The huge question, especially with no training camp, is whether or not D'Antoni will institute a good defense. With Howard and Gasol in the paint the D could be great if it gets a serious focus.

I suspect Dwight won't need to hit jumpers when he is dunking over people. And besides Pau can hit jump shots! So excited the Lakers made the right choice.

According to Shaq, that's what Dwight is. New school, European.

My thoughts as well. Nash's options on the pick and roll:

a) Lob it to Dwight
b) Bounce pass to Pau for a medium-range jumper
c) Pass to Kobe and let him work
d) Shoot the ball himself

For Nash and Gortat, there was Frye to spread out the floor, for Nash and Amare there were Diaw/Frye to spread out the floor at Power forward.

Dwight's best years statistically was when Lewis/Anderson played at 4.

Heck even Pau played his best with the Lakers when Odom played at 4 during championship years (Phil used to close out games this way)

It will be very interesting to see how well Pau and Kobe mesh in D'Antoni's Nash and Dwight PnR system!

Amar'e wasn't a true post scorer, he worked off the triple threat and had a solid mid range jumper. Diaw could score in the post but was more of a passer out of the post and floor spacer.

Offensively, Gortat > Dwight

Dwight's offense is laughably bad for his size and potential. Needs way more work with Kareem and Olajuwon.

The Nash/Howard P&R will look similar to the Nash/Amare P&R back in D'Antoni's first year...before Amare could shoot

I'm more looking forward to the Nash/Kobe P&R...they'll both get some ridiculously good looks
