Nene should return soon for Wizards
According to various reports, Washington center Nene (foot) could make his season debut earlier than expected and is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's game at Atlanta. Nene, who also was sidelined for training camp and the preseason, participated in practice Tuesday before the team boarded a flight to Atlanta. "It's going to help, no question, but again I don't want these guys sitting in the weeds waiting when are they coming back," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said about Nene and injured guard John Wall. "We're going to wait for them to get here and things are going to be fine."
Analysis: Nene, who re-aggravated the foot injury while playing in the Summer Olympics, indicated last Sunday that he was probably three weeks away from returning to the court after visiting with specialists. The 7-footer was wary of returning early in order to prevent another setback, but has handled practice sessions without any reported issues. Nene could immediately be thrust into the starting lineup as the Wizards have scored the fewest points in the league without him and Wall in action. Fantasy owners should closely monitor his status as Nene is considered a solid starting option in the majority of formats when healthy.
