Default Why is no one talking up the Mountaineers??

Didn't you guys see enough Big East basketball to know that Gansey and Pittsnogle both have the shooting ability to stay in this league 10-15 years? Gansey will be a GREAT role player on any team he goes to because he is the true definition of an intangibles player..He reminds me alot of Rip Hamilton the way he moves without the ball, and he can release the ball extremely quick..he SHOULD be picked 10-20..Pittsnogle should also be a first rounder...A tall guy who is improving his rebounding and inside play who can absolutely stroke it from deep, who wouldn't want this guy? He could have a career similar to Sam Perkins..Take my word for it, there will be MANY teams that regret not taking Gansey or Pittsnogle..They will have very solid NBA careers.

Yeah, solid careers. At best. There are many prospects that have the potential of 25 ppg, 10 rpg, 9 apg, 3 bpg, etc... Much more than solid. Pitsnogle will probably be an average PF at best. IMO he is not strong enough to compete with many PFs in the NBA. Gansey has more upside than Pits. In the right organization, he could score 20 per game (after a few years). However, I doubt he'll find that organization. I see Gansey geing an average guard... Maybe 15-18 ppg and 5 apg.

robert horry and sam perkins? both of those guys had post games, junping ability, and foot speed. pittsnoogle doesn't. i think a closer comparison is bill lambieer....a big slug who can shoot the lights out and foul hard. i think pittsnoogle drinks busch light and gets a new tattoo before every game.

Well I would be absolutely ecstatic if my favorite team (Lakers) would nab Gansey at 26. He would flourish there and would knock down so many 3's it wouldn't be funny. He can do everything..

Post Pits and Gansey are projected 2nd rounders

You seem to be overrating these guys being a homer fan of W VA.
With all draft picks, teams need to look at their needs, the talent, and
the evolution of the game. The game has evolved back into fast offensive style game. The defensive minded Spurs and Pistons could not get it done. With Amare back for the Suns in 2006-7, the Suns will become one of the favorites to dethrone the Heat who are too old to repeat. Look for teams to draft guys who are multi-dimensional athletic players with multiple offensive skills or the potential to develop them in the first round. Role players like Gansey and Pits who are more one dimensional or lack athleticism will be picked in the 2nd.

On NBADRAFT.NET , Gansey was compared to Jeff Hornacek. I think
a better comparison is Eric Piatowski, a 3 pt specialist role player. Gansey's
game is as developed as it can be. A team drafting him will not be
drafting for potential. Due to his grit and hustle and 3 pt shooting,
he would fit in with the Clips who could draft him with one of their 2nd round
picks. As for Pitt, the guy is slow, lacks an inside game, not a great leaper,
and limited to being a 3 pt shooter. Again, any team drafting him, gets
a developed player and known quantity. I dont see him in the league
for more than a few years at best. He will do better in the Euroleague
where shot blocking and inside play is less important.

Gansey is much better than Eric P. He's a much better defender ( 2 spg ) and moves without the ball almost as good as anyone in the league today. Yea he is probably developed seeing as he will turn 24, but 55% from the field and as much hustle as anyone I've ever saw, he will be a starter for some team within a year or two.

And you say the game is becoming more fast paced, what players flourish in fast paced basketball? Players who move without the ball and are great shooters..

The West Virginia players are white. All of them play well together and they are a product of their system and their coach. The only thing they have that translates over to the pros is shooting. Saying that I think Gansey and Pitsnogle should be first round picks and I would take a chance on both in the late first round.

i think he said that because they are white....anyway, i'd give gansey a little more credit for athletiscism than he's getting. dude's gonna surprise some people in the pros with his strength and quickness. plus you can't teach game smarts and clutch play.

I agree I think Gansey could become a starter in the NBA and I think Pitsnogle is an excellent player but I don't think either with be a star.

That's some stupid **** to say. They're white. Why don't you just say un athletic? I'm sure gansey is more athletic then 95% of black people. It's not like every black guy can dunk a ball, especially not swim.
