The Spurs can play the most average game ever and still thoroughly own us. Our team has to pretty much play spectacularly just to have a chance against them. Parker/Ginobli/Duncan had quiet, methodical games, none of them hit the 30 minute mark and they still blew us out by 20. It's like any player that you place on the Spurs under that culture and under Greg Popovic coaching has flawless execution and plays their role to perfection or as close to perfect as it gets. They don't overwhelm you they just pretty much don't make mistakes. It just gets more impressive to me year after year.
I like how Lowry played tonight. Didn't force anything, played calm and in control, kept the ball moving and his D on Velasquez was also very important as he was burning Calderon all night. Good win. And nasty dunk by Ross that got waived off.
Going into the 4th, between the 2 point guards they've taken a combined 2 shots, 0 points, 19 total assists. And we have a 17 point lead going in. Talk about ball movement.

The team played so unselfishly, and if they keep playing like that they will start piling up the wins against .500 and worse teams.

Final Calderon-Lowry combined line: 0 points, 0-3, 22 assists.
Terrance Ross was on fire tonight. 26 points on 6-9 from deep.
edit: and it's extremely impressive to win by 20+ when neither of your point guards score a single point and you don't have an all-star on your roster.
i said he was going to turn out great in one of the threads even before preseasons and no one believed me
I know I was one of the people against the pick, but I always liked Ross. I think we reached for him and could've made different/better moves and still gotten him but nonetheless i'm happy with his progression. His athleticism was a given but he has a smooth jumper when he's on.
The lack of ball handling at the wing position will be a topic of discussion in the upcoming years for Toronto if we pin our hopes on Ross + Derozan. I don't think they can coexist. They both play the same position, have similar impact on the floor when they are there (even though they provide different things). I am seriously praying for Wiggins, that's the only solution out of this bleak future of the Raptors...

I was with you. I still see Ross as Jason Richardson 2.0. He'll never have good handles to be a first option but he'll fill it up in a hurry when he's hot.
I also love how he just wants to dunk on anyone in sight; haven't seen that since the pre-injury VC days.
Ross will never be a superstar, but he sure looks like a solid 9th pick in the draft. I think his ceiling is definitely higher than derozan.
Raps are really playing well. This was a game I thought they may have trouble with (tougher competition than most of these games they are winning) but I am starting to believe in this team.

very hard to say if it is or it isn't. I haven't seen much from Ross to say much of anything. Just know he likes to shoot and has athleticism when it comes to dunking. But as far as rebounds, passing, handles, iq, nothing really jumps out at you. He needs to be playing 30 minutes a night to see what he's got...

It's called team basketball. And I love it!
Argentina showed that in the 2004 Olympic games, and won the gold medal. Goes to show if your team has good chemistry and share the rock you can beat anyone no matter who they have on their team.
Now if we can only keep Bargnani as far away from this team as possible!

You won't survive on that alone in the long-run. Not in the NBA. You need star talent to be a consistent top tier team in the NBA.
