This Sunday will likely make or break everything. If Kap repeats then it's gonna be on, if not everything goes back to one. Will be quite interesting but whatever happens it needs to happen quickly and decisively. If a QB controversy ruins our season I will not be a happy camper.
i have been a fan of kaepernick ever since seeing him play at nevada. the guy is straight up legit.
that said, i feel kind of bad for alex smith. yeah the guy is pretty mediocre, but the 9ers are a running team and he manages games pretty well in that regard. Alex smith was good enough to get them to the NFC champ game last year, and he is having a pretty solid year right now. He is 3rd in the nfl in passer rating completing 70% of his passes.
He drafted Kaep for a reason and has never really opened up the playbook with Smith. I would sit back and accept that Harbaugh knows his shit right know.
QB learning curves are not up and up and up. Be interesting to see everyone's reaction when he throws 3 picks (and he will throw 3 picks in a game). Do they want Smith back?
A QB controversy this late in a season is not ideal.

Dont worry you can throw 5 picks and still win the game
Not sure if I would bench Smith after 1.5 good games. Kaepernick is still young and prone to mistakes. The wildcat they were running is probably ideal but Harbaugh knows best but I think this decision will bite him in the ass.
So Smith is still non-contact and Harbaugh says he's hopeful that he'll be cleared today?
They say he's been symptom free since Tuesday, yet he hasn't fully been cleared? I'm very confused right now as to the extent of the injury.
I'm not exactly sure how the concussion thing works, do they clear a player in stages? Like he's cleared to practice non-contact, then they clear him to practice with contact, then he's cleared to play?
Because the way it's reported they paint it like he's clear to start before Sunday and then he wasn't. And then he was clear to start Wednesday, but then he wasn't. And he's still non-contact with a final contact test taking place yesterday.
The other thing that is confusing to me is Harbaugh's handling of the situation. The comments after the Monday night game, then the apparent meeting that actually apparently didn't take place maybe? Denying SI's report that he told Alex they're starting Kap regardless of health. It seems to me like someone dropped the ball somewhere.
Alex Smith has a passer rating of 104.1 this year...top-5 in the NFL
13 TDs and only 5 picks
to put that into perspective, Andrew Luck only has 12 TDs and 12 picks
this is a bold move IMO...I don't think it is the right move either, but we will see I guess
Way different situations for both.
Alex is asked to do much less. It's not all on his shoulders. He hasn't ever attempted more than 35 passes this year, he averages about 26 pass attempts a game in his 8 healthy games, and averaged 207 yards per game.
Andrew Luck is asked to carry the offense. He has been asked to pass 41 times per game, is averaging virtually 300 passing yards a game.
