Hilarious that the OP posts this thinking that it is Obama's fault and not the fault of the greedy assholes that run the school.

Hehe...Just wait till you see what else is coming to get you even after your employer cuts your hours!

Look forward to:

*3.8% added surtax on investment income for those making 200,000+, ranging from interest to dividends. And that's only if the Bush tax cuts remain. If not, interest income will jump from 15 to 43.8%

* 40% tax on Cadillac Health Care plans, in which the employer pays for most or all of your health care. It can cost almost 28,000 dollars for a family. Otherwise, you're paying 11,000 dollars in taxes for the "free" health care you get from your employers.

*If you don't have health care, you can pay from 700 to 5000

*Companies that make medical equipment costing over $100 have to pay a 2.3% tax on it. Wonder what that does for medical operations?

Enjoy!

you must be out of the loop. More and more colleges (including 4 year schools, including some R1 institutions) are using part time instructors for courses. It is not uncommon for someone to teach a 5 and 5 for about 15-30k and no benefits. For comparison, most tenure positions are a 3/3, 4/3 or 4/4. But tenure-track positions are a substantially lower component of the teaching force than even a decade ago. Saw a stat the other day, Ill see if I can find it again.

You should call up this college and enroll in Econ 101 because you obviously don't understand shit.

Businesses exist to make money. They don't hire people out of the goodness of their heart. If you increase a business' cost, they are going to have to reduce output. They either have to lay people off or reduce hours. This is simple economics, not evil republican propaganda.

I've been part of businesses, both successful and unsuccessful... eventually becoming a profitable small business owner... over the course of the last 30 years. How about you?

Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking if you think anything I said resembles hiring "people out of the goodness of their heart".

What I said, and what has been proven over time, is that good, successful, profitable businesses know that it costs far less time and money to retain good employees than it does to try to find their replacements. Good employees equal good products and services. You obtain and retain high end employees by offering benefits, quality work environments and opportunity for advancement/income they won't find at your competitor.

There will always be unskilled positions that will have high turnover, but that won't be driven by health care costs. It never has been, and those jobs have existed for hundreds of years.

If you believe the only way to offset rising costs, which have been a part of doing business for as long as business has been done, is to cut jobs/hours, then you ought to check out those Econ classes you mentioned.

The chart is legit. There hasn't been a spending explosion under Obama.

And what would make you think that health care costs were not going to rise if left as is?
Perhaps the fact that they've gone up, consistently and astronomically, for the last half a century?

It doesn't matter how big or small health care costs have been rising, they're going to rise much faster now.

Are people really trying to delude themselves into thinking Obama has been a good president? Some of the selective arguments I've seen crack me up. Bottom line is, unemployment is still at 7.9%, higher than it was when he became president almost 4 years ago. This is a guy who greatly underestimated the problem, threw out quick fixes, many of which failed, and did not give the economy the attention it needed, instead focusing on his "legacy", Obamacare, which, by the way, is going to make things worse.
