i have a really acid-sensitive stomach, so i take a combo of omeprazole and ranitidine pretty often. but that will also work for gastric reflux (heartburn).

if you don't have that stuff, go to the drug store and get some. take it with some magnesium antacid syrup and you should start feeling better right away.

if all you have is tums / rolaids handy, you can probably get some temporary relief by eating a couple small handfuls.

OP make sure you're eating at least 4000 calories a day or your heartburn will not disappear

Take ranitidine tablets. They work really well. Take one when you feel the heartburn coming on.

interesting, thx.

i've worked really hard to redesign my diet so that stuff like the acid episodes are greatly minimised. so when i avoid vinegar, wine and stuff like that, i can hit the red pepper and garlic as much as i want and still feel fine.

but there's another risk for ppl like me and the GERD folks-- strong antacids seem to leech B12 out of ones system, and with regular doses that can lead to permanent CNS damage.

It's good that you've set out to solve this problem at the top of the stream by eating more carefully. My brother also has heartburn and he was popping nexium like it was candy, i told him to chill tho, since his was also caused by a bad diet.

Do you supplement your b12 deficiency? I know when i worked at a pharmacy, vitamin b12 (cyanocobalamin) injections were a popular prescription.
