I looked up the percentages of their 2 point jumpshots some month ago (basketball-reference):
Sorted from best to worst (playoffs + regular season):
.495 Dirk 2010-11 (Championship) <- .509 in the regular season
.486 Dirk 2006-07 (MVP, 50-40-90 year)
.484 Dirk 2007-08
.478 Dirk 2008-09
.472 Dirk 2012-13
.466 Durant 2011-12 (Finals)
.461 Dirk 2009-10
.461 Dirk 2005-06 (Finals)
.456 Durant 2012-13 (50-40-90 year)
The 3P Career numbers:
Dirk: .382 on 3.2 3PA per 36 min
Durant: .373 on 3.9 3PA per 36 min
I think Dirk is the better pure shooter, but his best shooting season was at the age of 32, so Durant can still improve.
I've seen people say Dirk..which is fine. Sighting Durant's athleticism as a way he can get off better shots. That is true, but don't discount the height advantage Dirk has...especially with his high release. That is a built in advantage as well that allows Dirk to get great looks at times even though it might not look like it on tv.
I don't know. I'll say this. If there's 1 second left on the clock, I feel more comfortable that Durant will make 2 free throws to tie the game, Dirk will make the midrange, and Durant will make the 3pter. Covered or open.
