Don't worry. Avery will soon get fired. Most of our losses have come in the second half or the last few minutes of a game. I'm not going to blame 100% of the fault on Avery but he needs to put us in the position to close out games. On the other end, our shots just haven't been falling down. The problem is there is only one or two good coaches out there. Sloan, Phil and Don Nelson come to mind.
They should hire SVG, he can do more then just coach a 3 point line up (he even said he had to adjust to the 3 point players management were insisting he use) and would have them playing good d. Lopez would be beasting.
Yeah that is right. Deron had the best coach for him, and he drove him to retirement. Too bad. Now he's stuck with clowns like Avery (who is a fine player and a decent person, but awful coach).
Avery's an awful coach? The fact that they're not an awful defense impresses the hell out of me. Seriously.
Is it his fault that Deron Williams is a system pg? Nope. WTF does Deron want Avery to do, simply start running Sloan's offense because it worked sometimes back then. Where Deron still wasn't a superstar, but at least played better than Raymond Felton.
The Nets are an average team because of Deron Williams...period. He has all the help in the world offensively, but he's usually the one bringing down that team's level of play. Avery gives him freedom to call plays.
Firing Avery Johnson isn't going to make this team any better. Probably will make them worse. Avery is a decent coach. Doubt the Nets can find a better replacement. I'm sure if they could they would already have that person. Nets aren't going anywhere anytime soon if or if not they fire Avery Johnson.
Avery's an excellent coach. I love what he's doing with their defense obviously, but offensively he's got a good mindset.
They needed to establish Brook Lopez, get some cutting action towards the basket which Johnson and Wallace. Calls plays when he needs to...plays that resemble the motion you got from Utah's system. Allows isolation when either Deron, Johnson, or Lopez/Blatche gets hot, and allows his 100 million dollar pg to call whatever or do whatever he choose the other half of the game.
I don't think Avery is the coach for this team (he doesn't have their respect, and i think from watching him with Dallas he's extremely limited offensively in what he can have his teams do). That said, he doesn't deserve yet to be fired, and firing him sends a terrible message that the inmates are running the asylum, which is the opposite message they want (especially to Deron who thinks he's the team president). You need to give it more time.
Nets need to bring in Jerry Sloan because he knows better than anyone on this earth how to maximize Deron Williams' skill set.
Bruce Weber had Deron playing well in college. Deron has only had two coaches in the NBA, technically. We see he played well for one (until he gave up) and now is played like shit for another. It's hard to assume that Jerry is the only one who can run it. However, it's amazing that in their system he was able to sub MILLSAP for Boozer. It's a good system for their personnel, but I don't think it's a good system for what NJ has. The triangle would be optimal... GL with that haha.
