Default Jeff Teague is slowly gaining confidence

Since no one aside from like 12 people follow the Hawks on this board I'll give everyone an update to one the league's best young PGs.

So far Teague is having a career year averaging 13/7 w/ 1.8 SPG. Obviously Teague has improved a ton fundamentally since coming into the league and we all know how fast and explosive he can be when driving the lane. However the one thing that bugs me is that when he drives the lane he often gets contacted a ton an never draws foul calls. I've concluded this comes from one reason, he hardly drove the lane earlier in the year and instead would look to dump the ball off to Josh or Al. Over the last two games Teague has taken a ton of shots (16 against Denver, 22 last night) now he shot poorly in both of those games (4/16 Denver and 8/22 Wash) which is a problem but the more Teague drives the better his feel for finishing around the bucket will be. Back on point as he continues to drive to the rim and take more shots naturally he'll start drawing more fouls and Teague has improved his FT shooting quite a bit this year averaging in the 80%.

As Teague continues to progress he has both a good 3PT shot (he's been in a slump recently but he can consistently hit 3s when needed) and excellent driving ability. He's averaging 13.7 PPG to be exact right now and he'll get back on track eventually with his shooting so I'd expect those 4/16 nights to turn into 7/16 and the 8/22 to be 10/22. With more foul shots Teague can easily start averaging 16 PPG and with more focus on him it'll keep opening up guys like Korver, Morrow, Lou, Harris, and Stevenson for 3PTers as well as Al for his 12-14 FT shots. Right now if this trend continues I could see Teague finishing out the year where he averages at least 15/8 for a month if not 16/8.

My big question right now is how good could Jeff Teague be if he had a mid range game? That's really the only thing he's missing right now. If he develops that do you guys think he could be an 18/9 or even a 19/9 type of player? If so does that make the Hawks legitimate contenders in the East? Granted they have a much deeper bench than Miami and would be able to exploit them at their weakest points (PG and Front-Court).

Young, tough and skilled is what Jeff Teauge is and he always has a wow factor to his game when he can sky over someone. Slowly but surely hes becoming the most underrated guard in the L and the Hawks are doing fair well they are like 11-5, still doesn't get the mins he should be getting imo hes playing 31mins a game imo he could easily play 35-36.

Agreed, he really started developing when Nick Van Exel was hired. He's done a great job w/ Teague and I'm excited about John Jenkins future for that reason

His first year, he didn't get enough minutes because Bibby refused to give them up.

Then his second year, same thing happened, and Bibby was traded. But Hinrich got starter minutes until the playoffs.

Finally last year he got a lot of minutes, but he didn't have a solid veteran behind him to challenge him and mentor him.

This year, Devin Harris and Louis Williams are there to challenge him.

He's still a work in progress, but he is progressing, which is most important.

On offense, he still needs work on his QB skills at running the point. He's great at penetrating and attacking the rim. He put in a lot of time with his outside shooting and he has become an excellent three point shooter.

On defense, he always gives a great effort. He has great quickness and foot speed, and high defensive basketball IQ.

His 4th qtr play is fairly lackluster.

His defense is mediocre other than getting steals. Lawson destroyed him. He also got outplayed by Kemba Walker.

The hawks inability to contain guards is a big part of the reason they struggle to maintain leads when they get them. Teague's game takes a dramatic drop in the 4th period and even the folks over at hawksquawk know is defense is far from great.

You just tried to lie and say he got outplayed by Kemba Walker to downplay the Hawks as much as you can. Then you completely avoided what my post was talking about. Please, cry more. How about this, enjoy the Hawks are actually having some success? Is that to hard for you? Can you enjoy things? Or are you always an uptight b1tchy cry baby who doesn't know when to shut the fu*k up. I swear to god you sound like my little 5 year old cousins when he has a tantrum because he can't have any candy before dinner. Honestly do you see what you're typing? Being such a whiny cry baby b1tch is not acceptable by most people. Learn to enjoy sh1t and grow the fu*k up.
