Is the old era in their prime or how they are right now? And what was your reason for selecting these guys? It is obviously not by best players or positions.

Scary to think the Kobe / Garnett / Duncan / Nash / Pierce era is considered "OLD"

I'd consider the LeBron / Wade / Melo / Howard era as "CURRENT"

New era would be Westrbook / Durant / Harden etc.

Kobe would not surround himself with 3 wings and a jump shooting big. He would select a PG and a low post big.

Well I can buy into those being eras.

A change happened in the NBA with KG + that 1996 draft class.

Similarly is happening right now with that 2003 class.

2008 fits somewhere.

Agreed. There was the 80s era with Jordan, Pippen, Stockton, Malone, Miller, Barkley, Ewing, Robinson, Hakeem.

Then the late 90s to early 2000s era with AI, Kobe, Nash, Carter, KG, Dirk, Duncan.

But there was also that in between group with Grant Hill, Shaq, Penny, Payton, Mutombo, Mourning, Kidd, Steve Smith.

It is hard to define eras because they do overlap. I mean Shaq played against guys drafted in the 70s.

Yep.

Not just the players, but the power of the league and even the style of which basketball was being played.

Hell, guys like MJ, KG, and I'm guessing LeBron changed the way future generations play their positions.

Kobe era= Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Nash, Dirk, Ray, Pierce, Kidd, Iverson, T-Mac (prime), and Vince Carter would easily dominate any era before or after.

On a game of 21 I'll take Kobe with Dirk, Garnett, Duncan, and Shaq.
