What is movie Peter Parker's motivation to become Spider Man? And what about Garfield personifies comics Peter Parker? If you can nail down a specific personality at all because it changed a lot too.

I don't know how you could be a fan of the comics and LIKE Garfield's turn. And again it is not his fault, I think he's a talented actor, but the writers, producers, director let him down.

I don't mind changing Uncle Ben's death. So long as the lesson learned is the same. This is a sticking point, this IS Spider Man. Peter Parker is the greatest comic book character ever because of it.

Did you ever read Spider Island? It quickly became one of my favorite Spidey sagas because it got Parker right to a tee. If you make a Spider Man movie, you have to get Peter Parker right, above all else. Raimi's films did that... pretty damn good. He was a bit whiny tbh when dealing with certain things, and I thought everything to do with Mary Jane Watson was over played, but his Parker related to Spidey was really good.

This film misses it completely. What about Garfield made you think he was a better Peter Parker?

I've always thought it's so weird how Hollywood insists on portraying teenagers with older guys. Especially in the original Spiderman movies, I mean wow.

And I loved ASM, so under-rated. I think it's way better than Spiderman 1 and 3. And I liked Spiderman 1 too, it's just ASM does SUCH a better job of making Peter Parker more true to his character.

My god the "original" Spiderman with Tobey McGuire was just 10 years ago.

It's better numb nuts.

The casting of Jamie fox has the potential to ruin the second one though

Sam Rami always intended his movies to be about Peter Parker and not Spider-Man. That's why the first series died. By the 3rd movie, Spidey was just a bit character. That and way too much Mary Jane.

The series died because they took the most badass Spiderman villain there is and had Topher Grace's ugly face and whiny voice pop out of it every five seconds.

That was only one thing of many that was horrendously wrong in SM3.

That's not why it died at all. It's because the studio got too involved again. SM2 was Spiderman how Raimi wanted and it's no surprise that it's probably the greatest super hero movie yet.

Greatest super hero movie with Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane? I think not, good sir.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/spiderman_2/

And to put that into context:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_dark_knight/

The argument can be made...

And Deuce is right. The exact reason Raimi's movie faltered and he eventually split is because the studio heads wanted to control it more. He was not an obedient director.

Oh and just for fun: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_amazing_spider_man/

What's the point of the RT ratings? Ratings also say Inception and X-Men: First Class are more than generic action movies, when they aren't. So i don't see the point in referencing their ratings.

What? Inception and First Class are in high 80s and critics loved them. "Generic Action Movie" was used for the Amazing Spider Man lol.

It's a collection of multiple reviews so you can get an average of what critics thought instead of roaming around trying to find a bunch and do it yourself. With a large enough sample size like those movies have you can get a real good idea of how the movie is viewed.

Most important, and what I wanted you to see was average score:

SM2- 8.3 (8.2 top critics)
TDK-8.5 (8.0 top critics)

ASM- 6.7

And what are you talking about Inception generic action movie?
