In 10 years every team will have a high profile numbers guy on the staff. Numbers will take over the league just like they have in baseball, guys like Hollinger will be in high demand

Thank goodness I don't have to read his bullshit anymore.
PER is a crock of arbitrary weights on stats that AT BEST only puts players in "tiers."

Grizzlies rotation will be based on PER now, highest PER, more minutes you get.

It already is pretty much. Their top four PER guys (Gasol, Zbo, Conley and Gay) all play the four most minutes. Top two bench guys (minutes played) are also the top two bench PER's. (Speights and Bayless)

So can ESPN stop acting like PER is a meaningful stat now?
Don't know why any NBA team would hire him. He doesn't know anything about basketball. He's just a statistician.

He attends 41 Hawk games a year, every year, in addition to a ton of other games.
To say he doesn't know anything about basketball is just plain stupid.

this is just a bad signing. you don't put number crunchers in the FO. you hire them as consultants, not as managers. these guys don't have people skills. other managers will just run rings around guys like Hollinger.

Man I wish I could land a front office job after coming up with a completely abritrary formula that I pulled out of my ass.

Gay is 4th in PER and plays the most minutes per game, Marc is 1st in PER and is 3rd in minutes per game, Speights is 5th in PER and he's like 10th in MP per game... Catch my drift?
