Radio stations all play the same songs, in NYC at least

Pretty much every station is top 40. And a couple rap stations.

There's no actual hard rock, alt rock, folk rock on any NYC stations that I know of.

Very few songs on any NYC radio station actually involve live musical instruments. Almost entirely via electronics/machines + singer + producer

i don't know what i'd do without internet radio or the devices to carry around / replay the endless amount of cool new stuff i'm always finding online.

can't believe how much money i blew when i was younger just speculating in stores. now i donate a small but reasonable fraction of that to online sites (like, say magnatune) and i frankly need more time and ears to listen to it all. the future turned out friggen awesome in this one case.

Then you should found "ISH Radio", an Internet radio opening stuffs like Rush, Kraftwerk, The Wailers, or Perfume all day.

In Atlanta we have 4 pop radio stations and 3 hip hop stations. It's ridiculous. There was a metal and hard rock station but they changed it to pop. They got rid of one of country stations and changed it pop. I like pop but there is no more diversity on the radio.

Not true Jeff. I listen to an indie station from NY every now and then at work on my iphone app from Australia. It's called "WITR" (89.7).

Q104.3 has alot of classic rock and hard rock and sometimes plays alternative.
