It would take a Warriors meltdown of losing 4-5 in a row and those teams winning 4-5 in a row to even make the standings close. If Warriors stay strong they stay in the top 5. Houston is actually the team right behind the Warriors and they are 3 full games back.
I don't think the Warriors have any shot at a 5 seed...maybe a 6 seed. There are too many teams in the West. The Mavericks will only make it as a lower seed, if they make it. Dirk may or may not be the best PF in the league anymore. However, I do know that no one has taken the mantle. We'll see how he does. He and Mayo should make for a great duo.
I think Minnesota has a legit chance. They have Kirilenko (who should make the All-Star team and will not) playing like a DPOTY candidate (and should be top 3). The have Love, with his hand getting better, his defense getting much better (needs to do a much better job on rotations), playing rough on offense inside and using his passing ability...as well as killing the boards. He's going to lead the league this year. I think they have a legit shot.
All I know is that I want the Lakers and Timberwolves to match up with the Spurs and the Thunder (don't really care too much which two match up) because I believe the top seeds will be upset there.
The Warriors are off to a great start and getting back Bogut (I assume he will come back at some point) can only help...if not, trade him to Phoenix.
