Both are top contenders of their era, the Thunder is probably even better. But there's one astounding similarity we have to take note for. I mean, both have horrible owners who trade away players in order to cut down the salary.
The Suns gave up Joe Johnson in 05, and since then they got worse whenever they made a trade. Sure the improvement of Amare and Nash's longevity kept them at rather high level, but their chances at titles just kept slipping away 'cause their owner didnt want to pay luxury tax. Now the Suns are finally in rebuilding mode, must suck for a Suns and Nash fan cause their FO only knows how to blow up the team.
On this aspect the Thunder is Suns 2.0, a team with so many good players and firepowers but just keeps getting worse in offseason 'cause the owner trades away a player asking for higher salary. Look at James Harden, its just the beginning. Perhaps Martin wont stay this summer, they may end up finding a replacement for him but significant worse(just like how Suns got Bell to replace Johnson). The cycle continues, until every valuable player is replaced by mediocre ones.
Guess this is why its so hard for small-market teams to compete? It happens when your team owner and FO do not improve the team while blowing up the team whenever they get a chance.
You're an idiot. They are just as good as they were last year and are set up with some potentially nice future pieces.
Gtfo with your garbage
So you think Kevin Martin is even half the man James Harden is? They are still good 'cause Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka all get better, but without Harden they miss the chance to give themselves an edge over any other teams.
Moreover, from this trade I see what this team will be doing in the next few years. They will keep trading away good players and sign mediocre ones to avoid tax, just like the Suns.
