Smart move by him and fortunate for those considering him. Unless he's matured considerably since leaving ASU, he's nowhere near ready to coach in the NFL. Fueded with the PHX media over any perceived slight or criticism of his performance. Not a guy to stand up to NFL head coach level scrutiny. Perfectly suited to be a coordinator.

I can remember a day when an NFL coach could miss the post and keep his job...

The issue in Dallas isn't the head coaching position ... it's the fact Jerry Jones wants to play the Mark Cuban role and run shit. Dallas needs a GM. Plain and simple.

Jerry has been a fairly good GM for a while.

Jerry's problem is that he tries to get involved in the locker room and sometimes undermines his HC's.

He has placed good talented players on the team IMO...and every year it seems like Dallas fans are very happy about whoever he drafted #1 overall...Dez, Smith, Claiborne, etc

we are just still looking for a HC, after Aikman we went through a dozen QBs until we found Romo, but we are STILL doing that for a HC after Jimmy...we just haven't found our Belichek yet...still looking

by the time we find a franchise HC, we will be back to looking for a QB again

I don't think you'll ever find a franchise HC such as Belichek. Because Jerry won't have it. Franchise HC's usually demand control of all personnel moves. Remember why Jerry fired Jimmy? Because Jimmy was taking too much credit for building the team away from Jerry.

I don't think Jerry will ever hire someone as powerful as Jimmy again, nor do I think a franchise caliber HC would have any interest working for Jerry Jones.

Yeah, Jerry is so good and doesn't need an actual GM. I mean, they've won what, one playoff game in the past decade? He da man... just like Mark Cuban sitting behind the Mavs bench and adding more pressure.

This.

It's always interesting to see the process of coaches picking their destinations because there's so much that goes into it.

Though word is the deal may be off!

Apparently Reid thought he was signing a deal with KFC.

naw Jerry could pick any coach he wants...remember Parcells?

I really don't think there is any HC that would refuse a chance at the Dallas Cowboys...we just have to find the next Jimmy

Am I missing something or do the Mavericks currently hold one of the longest post season streaks in the league? I believe only second to the Spurs. They've made a few finals trips and won championship. Had tons of talent through out the years. Mark Cuban was obviously a big part in all of that.

Not sure I'd be using him in a negative light.

Todd Haley is reportedly drawing HC interest. Question: Why?
