There's no way he'll be replaced. According to PT, he's a Top 5 maybe even Top 4 quarterback in the entire NFL. You don't just replace someone of that caliber.

Realistically speaking though, no way Jerry Jones replaces Romo, which publicalaly admits he made a mistake putting so much faith and responsibility on the shoulders of Tony Romo... no way a guy like that admits he made a mistake on that large of a scale.

Realistically though, I think Romo just isn't built for the type of pressure one at the QB position for "American's Team" and would be better fit for a small market team to get past his "big game no show" tag. This guy incredibly folds under pressure. This is fact, this is proven, over and over again.

On any given Sunday Tony Romo can "look like" one of the league's best quarterbacks, but more often he looks average, and in big games he's terrible. That isn't elite. That isn't superstar. That's average, and when it counts the most, way less than average. In other words, the finished product of Tony Romo is a QB capable of getting you into the post season via wild-card here and there, but he'll never make a SB much less win one.

He has a proven track record that he will lose big games. This is not speculation of league analysts, this is just sheer fact in today's world.

When Carson Palmer was on the decline, I had a very difficult time accepting it. He went from being a Top 3 guy being Peyton and Tom Brady before his original career threatening injury, to being just an average quarterback. I will say this season Palmer has quietly had a good year. If you look at his numbers, you'd think the Raiders would have a better record.

My point is, over the years I've had to come to the realization Carson Palmer just isn't that elite QB anymore. At least you're dealing with a QB that was never even at that level to begin with! I know it's easier said than done, but just admit your quarterback isn't anything special, and when your franchise really needs him to step up, he just steps off.

They are stuck with one another for a little awhile longer. The knee jerk reaction is to find his replacement via draft or free agency, but that guy isn't out there. He actually was pretty clutch at times, but when it mattered most, he came up short.

I think if you are the cowboys, you are just banking that he figures this out, and then maybe in a year or 2, make a move to replace him.

I hope at the very least, this cools the national media talk that he's a top flight QB. He's clearly in that second tier.

Replaced by who? You have to have a better person in order to make replacing someone make sense.
yeah they said that they have trailed in all their wins

even down 3-0 counts. that means they trailed in every single game this year. FAR cry from the giants of last year

believe it or not Romo is about to get a contract extension this off season

http://nesn.com/2013/01/tony-romo-co...-teams-future/

at first hearing this I was surprised, but now I think it makes sense...if we didn't we risk letting him walk after next year and with no other option anywhere in sight, we can't let a top-10 QB go.

Now that the smoke has cleared a little many aren't blaming Romo...DALLAS WAS DEAD LAST IN RUSHING THIS YEAR

we also had a defense that was completely shredded with injuries...teams could run on us at will...the Skins didn't even have to throw, RG3 only had 9 passes

we were basically asking Romo to do EVERTHING which we can't do, the guy needs help.

Also the idea that there is some magic force that changes him in "big moments" is just silly...for one he HAS won games in big moments...he has been clutch in PLENTY of high pressure situations...he had 3 really bad games this year, and one of them happened to be week 17...it sucks but it isn't a reason to throw him a away, he still had an unbelievable December.

Also, if anyone wonders what the Cowboys would be like without Romo, just look 2 years ago when he got injured...we went 6-10...there was no "big game" at all that year. Playing someone like Orton would be exactly that.

Context. You're missing it.

The had Romo that year, they were 1-5 with him.

Then Kitna & Stephen McGhee came in and guided them to a 5-5 record.

Ultimately the fumbled snap was probably his best opportunity. I think they could have beaten that Bears team the next week. There are some people who never get over the hump. He might be more Chris Webber than Dirk.

okay with those six starts (one of which he left injured) he played good...94 QB rating

are you trying to say that Kitna was better for Dallas?...if so you didn't watch

do you think we would be better with Orton?

a T-Mac?

it's worth the risk to continue to find out at this point...being there is nothing else anywhere in sight worth looking into.

If there was a big name FA out there then okay...but that never happens with truely elite QBs, teams hang onto them

Peyton had to break his fcking neck AND have one of the greatest QB prospects ever fall in the Colt's lap for them to let him walk...

i agree 100%, this thought that the Cowboys should jettison Romo with literally no hope of a better replacement coming anytime soon is just ridiculous IMO.

The 13-3 year was his best shot IMO...that was the best "TEAM" around him

Dallas lost in the first round that year to the Giants, who later went on to win the SB.

had we won I think we would have at least been in the SB to face the undefeated Pats, probably don't win but you never know.

This year there was no hope even if we beat the Skins, our team around Romo was battered and injured...no rushing game at all, it was pretty much just Romo and Dez and that is it.

Response to first bold: what happened to him being a Top 5 or just as YOU said Top 4 quarterback in the league?

You said plain as day... Tony Romo is a Top 4 quarterback. How do you explain that?

Response to second bold: really? He's won big games? LOL, yeah. Let us count the ways. Oh, and how many "big games" has he lost? Exactly. Don't even try to compare. Apples and oranges, and ya boy Romo is coming up a lemon. He's a fake. A fraud. A phony. He CAN'T win big games.

I understand you're a Cowboys fan so you'll fight to the death for this guy, but damn PT, just admit Tony Romo when it matters most just flat out sucks.

OK NFL genius, and how many seasons has Bill Belichick and the Patriots had a world class running game to help complement them in a Superbowl run? Hummm? Tell us wise guy. How many runs did the Patriots make with a stout running game?

*crickets*

Your point there is moot. ERRRRRR BUZZZZZZ noise from the Operation board game... try again.
