Default what does ISH think about retail associates who dont help

anyways , i was doing some shopping today

went inside a store, looking for a few specific items, browse a little bit with the gf

see 3 sales associates about 15 yards away in a circle joking around and for sure they noticed we were present

not once did they ask me if i needed help

WTF, useless losers circle jerking each other instead of doing their jobs

my gf on the other hand, prefers their approach over the cordial helpful approach, but she's not white washed so her opinion doesn't count

give me your opinion ish

Annoying. Its worst when you are a co-worker of people who come to work, but don't want to work. Some stores have a policy that if a customer is within a few feet of you, you need to approach them, greet them, offer them any help, etc. Retail can be a pain though, for customer and employee alike.

You should have yelled to them, "ay' yo! one of you want to earn your paycheck?"

Happens a bit. When it happens to me, I usually just walk out. End of the day, it's their loss.

Macy's DRILLS and DRILLS customer service and approaching customers. Macy's trains and retrains and follows up with even more training. Managers have meetings with their associates to go over their performance, and that includes approaching customers and helping them out. There's even a goal that every store must reach regarding helping/approaching customers.

Naturally, not every associate follows this to a tee 100% of the time, but does anybody do their job 100% properly 100% of the time?

as someone who has worked retail, yah managers drill you to approach customers.
its also important for loss prevention.

It's simple psychology if someone from the store approaches you and helps out you're more likely to buy.

But I rather not get any help until I call for it.

When I was working retail at Abercrombie and Fitch, the manager actually told us to stand around pretending to be busy if we had nothing to do, and only help the customers if they came up and asked. This was some bizarre company policy to try to give retail associates (who at abercrombie and fitch are called 'models' ) an air of mystique.

They told us the way to greet was 'hey' or 'sup'. Not 'Hi' 'hello' or 'how can i help you'

We were only instructed to approach people we were suspicious of shoplifting.

Pretty retarded if you ask me. I hope people stop buying those clothes soon.

Why don't you stop being a useless piece of shit and find what you want all by yourself?

I don't like getting approached for help(especially if my body language says leave me alone). I'd rather find help if I need it. By the time I hit the store, I have already researched my purchases.

I also prefer when someone tells me where to find something, rather than walk me over to the aisle, and watch me until I put something in my cart and walk away.
