Default Does everyone remember D'Antoni's last minute "grand plan" to fix the Knicks?

Right before he resigned (and Linsanity hit a hiccup) he went to the GM and asked them to try to trade Carmelo for D-Will. He was rebuffed and shortly after resigned. How's that trade look right now?

This is for you Laker fans wondering if he will smarten up, play slower so his older players can function. No, he won't. He'd jettison the whole team first.

Dumbest coach in NBA history, and I'm not just talking out of my ass.

Carmelo was playing like garbage at the time, so you can't fault him for it.

Obviously now that we know what we know, it would have been a bad idea.

Yes, you can fault him for it, and there was never a point when that trade would have been a good idea.

I always knew D-Will was a less talented player. We all did. Also, He wasn't tearing it up in NJ, he was alternating taking it easy for some injury and playing so-so. It also had no chance of occurring either. It was stupid, it was lazy, basically D'Antoni rather hope they could jettison their star than try to fit the team to him.

Stubbornest coach, not dumbest, he actually has some good knowledge of basketball believe it or not. Coach like Keith Smart belong to that category, and should not be in the league.

He asked FO to trade Melo for Deron is the way of saying. Ok, I lost the Franchise player, trade him or fire me. It has nothing to do with Deron's poor performance now. It's just a way asking to be fired.

Or maybe 0.0001% chance FO chose a coach on his last year's contract with another proven head coach in assistance ready to step up, over the Franchise player they gutted their team to get and still in contract. Who knows, maybe D'antoni is dumb after all.

It's a dumb trade then, now, and before.

But Williams wouldn't look as pathetic in D'Antoni's system. That much is true.

D'Antoni continues to get work coaching in the NBA. It really is quite baffling.

Said it from day 1... rather have brown. I think they would have figured out the offense and brown would have gotten the defense under control. Even now they are running some Princeton sets with Kobe.

I think he should be assistant coach like on team USA, or teacher or write books or preacher of basketball movement or something.

He has some good bball Ideology, some really new ideas(or old) to break some mold and freshen things up and been appreciated among the league. People recognize that.

However as a person and a coach he absolutely fails. He does not teach things related to his weakest and have not intention of changing that(defense). He is terrible at managing ego and personnel. He is bad speeches. His substitution is rigid like his coaching style.

He is like a high IQ guy trying to do a High EQ job and fail miserably unless it the jackpot of the Suns, where egos are aligned and Nash manage alot small things for him.

It wasn't a dumb question for D'antoni to ask for Dwill over Melo. D'antoni needs a good pg to run that offense. It was a smart move by Dolan to tell D'antoni to go **** himself.

D'antoni really needs to learn to adjust
