Default Avery Bradley's Defense

I think hes the best defender in the league, hands down, at the guard position.

Do you agree with Rondo's sentiment? Has Bradley done it long enough to deserve this kind of reputation?

Default Re: Avery Bradley's Defense

Well he's going to need to be the best if he's supposed to be the catalyst for turning the Celtics' season around.

Tony Allen is the best but Bradley is close. The funny thing about the quote is young Rondo defended as well as anyone and he still can.

Not scared of that, especially in this small-ball era. Bryant may want to do it, other than him which big guards will do it consistently?

Wade.

When I'm watching Wade these days his post up game on smaller guys is the one thing in his game that looks smooth. You throw in Kidd who can still use it effectively and even JJ (though Bradley I think will frustrate the hell out of him down because he's an utter moron).

One of the few guards who uses his length effectively. he covers so much ground, him and Rondo on the court together make them a very frustrating backcourt to play against.

But I think his abilities are amplified because he plays with Rondo. He's able to pressure other players and they think twice about risky passes because of Rondo's presence and vice-versa

Wade isn't much taller than Bradley. If I wasn't phone posting I'd link to a bid of Bradley blocking him. Google it. Kidd is mainly a three-point shooter these days. JJ is a concern but his team is struggling almost as bad as the Cs. The current NBA is full of small backcourts and smallBall line ups.

He makes Rondo superfluous. Ship Rondo off to someone dumb team while his value is still high. Rondo has been exposed as overrated assists-padder without ray ray next to him finishing all those contested long range shots.

When both healthy I think Iman Shumpert is a better defender than him. But it's certainly debatable. Both are elite perimeter defenders.

Don't forget Shumpert got 100% more freedom than Bradley ever got, with the ball in his hands a lot as well. Shumpert in the Boston situation and Bradley in the NY situation would not have looked much different imo.

Default Re: Avery Bradley's Defense

I believe Shumpert is better...which is saying something.

But maybe Bradley should start...maybe Rondo will try to play defense again.
