9/10 black comedians feel the need to dress up as women. Fact.

I agree with him in the sense that new comedians / standup comedians (and i say even todays comedy movies themselves) can not be matched with old-school

This thread got me watching a lot of youtube clips of late 70s through early 90s clips. Watched a good hour of various comedy bits. One thing that I was thinking about in relation to Chris Rock's comments while watching Seinfeld routines was that Seinfeld's jokes really do apply to everybody and their experiences in life. For example, he makes jokes about socks. Everybody wears socks, so the joke applies to everybody. Sure Seinfeld's audience tends to be mostly white, but they are jokes that can easily be related to by other people. When you got Larry the Cable Guy making jokes, it is primarily white Southerners that it is aimed at and others can't really relate to the jokes. Same thing with comedians that focus primarily on their race.

To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar wasn't a comedy? That's new to me. Great way to dodge the real issue though!!!

Yeah he largely ignores social commentary and talks about the trivial things that we all experience. This is why I think he could play as diverse as any other comedian. Larry David too, although the thing with Larry is that he deliberately won't play to any audience, he doesn't like them he just leaves (or used to anyway).

I didn't say it wasn't a comedy, I said that it was a movie about a specific subject - drag queens. Any black guy that took the role would be on this list, but why shouldn't they take it? Because they have to wear a dress? It is a different kettle of fish - in this specific case.
