Homer is EXTREMELY overrated and the success of the simpsons overall puts him on a pedestal because hes the main character but in reality hes just an above average character on a great show.... you would know that if you actually watch the shows and not go off some bullshit popularity contest list

Dude was the greatest sayian the world ever saw and his patience (something Vegeta didn't have) is what set him apart.
He mastered the mental side of being a warrior and he is the GOAT because of it.
He was a great warrior, but he was naive. Case and point, he actually almost saved freiza's life on planet namek... The same guy who killed his best friend.
(I guess u can say that he did save his life since he never actually died... Until trunks killed him)
Goku is the best only in that he is the most powerful, the purest protagonist, and the pinnacle of good that boys look up to. Like a Personal Jesus.

Piccolo and Vegeta are more memorable, cooler, and will likely appeal to more flawed, realistic watchers because of their personal struggle, darker sides, and higher intellect.
