Reds with their biggest, most clutch win of the season. That was a real treat to see. Unfortunately, the Cardinals won their game, so the chances of winning a division are getting slim, but at the very least, the Reds can host the WC game if they fare well vs. the Pirates.

Don't care so much about the Indians, but I'd love to see the Royals back in the action.

Me too, but this won't be their year. Despite only being 3 games back of the WC this month, there are just too many teams ahead of them. It's one thing to need 1-2 teams to lose, it's another to need 4-5 to lose every night so you can gain ground.

Too bad though. They're a team that does it the right way, pitching and defense.

Yep. Per Fangraphs there are only 6 starting position players costing their team wins this year, and Hecchavaria is a half game worse (-2.0) than the next lowest (Paul Konerko -.1.4). The fact that he's a full 1.5 games worse than JP Arencibia is staggering and should put how bad of a ballplayer he is into some serious perspective.

On that tangent, Nick Markakis has been horrible this year. Definitely one of the worst starting players in the Show.

Adding a second wild card has been one of the best things for MLB

I'm truly disappointed in the Pittsburgh Pirates (they were supposed to make the post season, but have slipped enough lately to ruin their chances), and to a lesser extent the KC Royals (who mounted an end-of-the-season comeback, just not enough to break-through and snatch a wild-card slot).

How have the Pirates ruined their chances to make the playoffs? They're still 5 games ahead of the Nationals (so are the Reds) for one of the two Wildcard spots. They're 5 games up and they and the Nationals both have 8 games left to play, so they're still a ways away from "ruining their chances" of making the playoffs.

LOL, no there's only one wild-card spot per league. Since when were there two? And you can't be "kind of" an idiot - either you are, or you aren't, and if the wild-card rules/qualifications recently changed, that doesn't necessarily equate to someone being an idiot.

Did the rules recently change?

Since last year.

There's two wild cards per league.

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know. I guess I'm an idiot!

Well, beyond the hilarity of your bold ignorance throughout this post the term idiot refers to someone who is mentally deficient in which case there are both practical and clinically recognized levels. Hence, yes, you can be kind of an idiot, but you are making a strong case for removing any adjective preceding the word.

there's two wild cards per league, but they play a 1 game "series" to determine who goes on to the divisional round of the playoffs. so let's say the pirates and reds get the two wild card spots, they would play each other and the winner of that game goes on to the divisional round

I didn't realize the MLB wild-card rules changed, therefore I'm a sure-shot idiot. Superb logic.

No. The truth is you're just bitter, always mad and pissed off, combine that with you hate me, it doesn't take much to realize your comment and claim is biased, and unjustly issued. Anyone can see this. Try again.
