Jose Bautista lost his damn mind today. He got a first pitch called for a strike and then yelled at the ump for a little bit(the pitch was clearly a strike) then he swung at two pitches way out of the strike zone then he yelled at the ump some more, then he got ejected. Then he threw his bat and his helmet and his batting glove.

For all the attention Justin Upton is/was getting, and he's not even our best hitter. Freddie Freeman is, and it's by a pretty big margin in my opinion.

I agree. Freeman is a pure hitter. I live in NJ and watch the Met/Brave games a lot. Keith Hernandez loves Freeman, always says how he expects him to win a batting title soon. And I've never seen a player fly out at the warning track more than Freeman He's missed a ton a homers by a few feet.

I hate sac bunting so much unless it's a total shit hitter. That better have been the last time Melky Cabrera ever sac bunts. Whether it was his call or the managers. Waste of an out.

So is this going to be another one of those years the Cardinals win 95-105 games, look like the class of the NL and maybe all of baseball most of the season, and then get beat in the NLDS or NLCS? They've got to be the weirdest team over the last decade. Their two World Series winning teams were 80-something win teams, and they've had 2 or 3 100+ win teams that didn't win it all.

They've got teh best record in baseball by 2.5 games right now, but that's not a huge deal. They're 22-10 on the road this year compared to 19-12 at home, so their an elite home and away team. They've tied to score the second most runs in baseball, given up the third fewest, and have the best RD.

Justin Upton hasn't even been a better hitter than McCann or Gattis this year, never mind FF. Since the last week of April the guy has been terrible. I don't expect him to continue to be this bad but yeah, Freeman is having a much better season than him thus far.

Off the Upton bandwagon to promote Gattis, McCann, and Freeman as better hitters

I would love to see the explanations to justify why they are better than Uptown

Upton has been brutal for the last little while, playing far worse than even a league average player. I defended his first 30 games or whatever it was for what he did, he was phenomenal. As good as he was then, he has been just as bad the last little bit.

It's an easy argument to make for all the players he listed as being better hitters thus far. They lead Upton on all major categories like wOBA and wRC+

Freeman is a better hitter. Im not sure about Gattis/McCann. Why is Upton better than Freeman? He has been useless since his scorching hot start.

1) Was never on the bandwagon. Peruse this thread back a ways, I was talking about the problems he was having at the plate that were gonna come home to roost pretty much while he was still hitting the shit out of the ball.

2) Can you read? I specifically said "Justin Upton hasn't even been a better hitter than McCann or Gattis this year". And my explanation for that? Just look at the numbers. Thanks for coming out.
