BTW, the last time Justin Upton had a run batted in was May 25. Which makes 1 RBI in his last 19 games.

So slump means that Freeman and whoever you choose is better than Uptown? This year or the first 2 months? That logic escapes me. As a team they arent the best hitters but I dont think a slump means Freeman, McCann, Gattis are better hitters to this point or however you want to say it.

Let's say for example... Bautista, he isnt on track yet but because Lind has a better avg or whatever you going to say he is a better hitter up to this point or whenever? NO...

Slump or no slump Freeman is just as good of hitter as Upton

This. I don't think Rameek knows much about Freeman or watches him. He is good

Of course the logic escapes you because you're a fucking moron. Freeman, Gattis, and McCann have all hit better than Upton this year. Thus, they have been better hitters this year. Pretty simple you'd think.

How you cannot understand the concept of ranking how well guys have played this year by how they have, you know, actually performed is just mind-boggling.

Um, absolutely Adam Lind has hit better than Bautista this year. You would have to be a complete retard not to realize that, but I guess you qualify.

Who would have thought the Angels would be 10 games under .500 on June 10th? Hamilton batting just .216 with 9 home runs and 20 RBI, and Pujols premature decline continuing at just .241 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI. Those contracts are reminiscent of A-Rod at the moment with Pujols still owed 212 million over 8 years after this season and Hamilton still owed 116 million over 4 years after this season.

The production the Sox are getting from Daniel Nava and Mike Carp is just ridiculous. I really hope these guys can keep it up, they've been very nice surprises.

That Pujols contract was horrible when he signed it and it's just going to get worse and worse.

I watch the Braves like what they've done. But according to the logic of some these posters and I will not address the name calling stuff at the moment.... I do like Freeman, I have no problems with Gattis/McCann I havent disparaged any of their abilities. Just the notion that the best hitter or pitcher is determined by hot streaks kind of wishy washy. Week to week any no name bum can become a good hitter or pitcher. Quite short sided. You can quantify any player being better that way. Or maybe Uptown just isnt well liked.

Yeah, but I don't think anyone imagined he'd decline this quickly and to this extent. Granted, he already appeared to have declined a bit from his top form by the time he signed the contract, but I thought they'd at least get close to prime level Pujols for the first half of the contract.

I thought last year's .285/30/105 was a disappointing year for him(especially with a .343 OBP which would only rank as his 3rd highest batting average) but at this point, that would look like a good season for him.

In addition to what happened with A-Rod's contract coming off a season of .314/54/156, 24 steals in 28 attempts and a .412 OBP, and now how Pujols is looking, it will be very interesting to hear how teams deal with high profile free agents regardless of the season they're coming off of.

The irony here, plenty of people were handing jupton the mvp before April was over.

Between McCann and jupton? I'd say McCann is, and always has been, the better hitter. There's a greater chance jupton will get you for a HR(It isn't like McCann has no power himself; He's 20+ HR a year, every year), but McCann has superior plate coverage and discipline. Watch that lineup turnover 3 or 4 times a game, and you'll see a huge difference between Mac and the rest of the order swinging at just about everything coming out of the pitcher's hand.

This.

But that isn't even what I'm saying - buddy is so thickheaded he still refuses to understand that "Freeman, Gattis, and McCann are hitting better than Justin Upton this year" doesn't = "Freeman, Gattis, and McCann are better hitters than Justin Upton." It doesn't seem to matter how cut-and-dried it's laid out for him. It's strikingly hard to understand how an individual could possibly be so ignorant, unless he's trolling of course.

Hold up a second, if we're talking about who the better hitter is overall.... it's Juston Upton followed closely by Freeman and McCann way behind.

The last 2 1/2 years gives a good sample size....

Upton:

wRC+ 127ish
wOBA .365

Freeman:

wRC+ 125ish
wOBA .355

McCann:

wRC+ 113
wOBA 337

If we're talking the better hitter this year than it's different. Freeman has an extremely high BABIP for a slow runner that will be almost impossible to keep up, so expect his numbers to go down/level out at the end of the year. McCann on the other hand has an extremely low BABIP, so expect his numbers to go up for this year.
