the phillies are god awful right now. they can't score runs and when they do the bullpen blows leads late in the game even papelbon blew like 3 straight saves . all i keep hearing in the local media are they gonna be buyers or sellers at the deadline **** it trade anyone except hamels, brown, lee those are about the only keepers honestly.

Even though he's been slumping lately its clear that he's at least as major league ready as Ozuna.

I didn't like the call up of Fernandez initially, but it was a desperation move. Eovaldi and Alvarez were hurt and they needed something to generate some buzz, but so far it has paid off. We'll see how they control his development from here but things are certainly starting off promising. The lack of K's from Turner is kind of puzzling for a guy that averages 92-93 on his fastball and can get as high as 95. His control needs to improve a bit more, but so far he's making it work.

The team could have a pretty promising future, but its pretty much up to how the decision makers in the front office and what they view their long terms plans as. From recent history I can't say I have much faith in that
The one thing the Marlins should get major credit for is that during this firesale this past year they have actually gotten some very, very good young talent in the trades, and they do look like they have a bright future.

Made it up to Comerica Park in Detroit for the first time this past Saturday. Awesome stadium, and the fans were really into it, moreso than many other parks I've been to. Hit up Hockeytown pre game. Overall, had an awesome experience.

Can the Pirates finish at .500 this time?

2011- 51-44 on July 19, went 21-46 the rest of the way(were in 1st place as late as July 19 and .500 as late as August 2)

2012- 63-47 on August 8, went 16-36 the rest of the way(were in 1st place as late as July 18 and .500 as late as September 19)

Right now, they're 48-30 and tied for the best record in baseball with St. Louis. They have to go 33-51 the rest of the way to finish .500 and they're currently on pace to win 99 games.

Jacob Turner with his first career complete game against the Pads.

...and man have the Giants really gone down hill, that's 6 losses in a row

If they don't finish over .500 this year then I officially give up on them.

I honestly think they are going to make the playoffs this year. They are an extremely good team this year.

Turner has been very good this year. He looks like he has a good chance to fulfill his potential as a #2 Starter.

In other news, Chris Davis is having an insane year. He hit 2 HR's tonight and now has 30 HR's this year.

i'd love for them to make the playoffs. the pirates have always been my "second" team and i love mccutchen. it'd be really disappointing if they didn't make the playoffs this year. but they got me excited the last 2 years and still couldn't even finish over .500

Francisco Liriano has been absolutely incredible this year. The results are finally matching his stuff, the Buccos hit gold with AJ Burnett and now with Liriano as well.

I thought there was no way in hell the Pirates don't at least finish above .500 last year 100+ games in. Thought they were going to start their swoon at the beginning of June this year when they lost 5 of 6 to the Reds and Braves; but they're 15-5 since then, and have won 8 in a row. I can't even imagine them finishing below .500 this year, and I think the playoffs are almost a lock. Both Wildcards may come from that division and I don't see them finishing any lower than 3rd.

I think the Pirates are one of those teams that no one (outside of division rival fans) really hates and wants to cheer to on. I like the Pirates and I'm a huge Cutch fan. Plus, I think their alternate jerseys are awesome and I wouldn't mind owning one (far right on the pic)

This right here. I can understand their pain being a lifelong Saints fan. It's not fun to suck for a really long time. I hope they win the NL!
