Donaldson!!!!

A's back in it but there offense has been dreadful as of late yet they have still been squeaking out wins. I am a bit concerned though with so many of their hitters slumping that the team might be fall off in the 2nd half.

The Futures game was fun to watch (as always)

Highlights:

Archie Bradley (Damn this guy is good, best pitching prospect in baseball)
Noah Syndergaard (Nasty stuff)
Christian Yelich (Future batting champ - dat swing is pretty)
Austin Hedges (Damn he's a good defensive catcher)
Jesse Biddle's curveball

Negatives:

Carlos Correa barely got on the field
Byron Buxton struck out twice, was too passive at the plate
Kyle Crick - his stuff is nasty but he couldn't throw a strike
Position players outside of Christian Yelich and Matt Davidson were largely disappointing.

Constanza
Simmons
Chris Johnson
Gattis
Uggla
Reed Johnson

Terdoslavich

Throw in the season ending injuries to some of our bullpen, Freeman and Heyward spending a stint on the 15 day DL, Gattis being out for a while, and McCann being out for the first month of the season, and it's a small miracle we're 54-40 (54-41 after today). Thankfully the division sucks, so we'll still have a 5 game lead at the break.
No kidding. Don't forget how long it took Heyward to find himself, how bad BJ has been all year, Uggla being Uggla, and Justin not showing up since mid-April. On paper the team should be 13 games over .500 at the break, but by the way they've actually played due to underperforming and injuries, it's pretty amazing.

Glad to see Mac get the nod for the ASG, he's been a beast this year. Shutting up everyone that said to trade him after Gattis had 50 good MLB at bats.

Yeah, even if everyone was healthy but still playing like they've been playing, being 13+ games over .500 wouldn't make sense. Just been a weird season where our peaks have looked dominant but we look like one of the worst teams in the league during the lows.

Kinda feel bad for Heyward because, after struggling all of April, he has the appendectomy, and that sets him back even more. He was starting to show some signs of getting it going right before that, too. And trust me, I've had my appendix out (in high school), and even after you come back and start playing and practicing, it takes another few weeks to fully get back to 100%, because you're spending the first week or two building up your stamina. And I was going through a high school basketball regimen, not a MLB game/practice/workout regimen where you're playing games every day in 90+ degree heat. And he was starting to play well before he got hurt again.

Harper and Trout should own this sport for the next 10-12 years.
