A few trades went down today
The Kings traded Simon Gagne to the Flyers for a Conditional 4th Round Pick
The Stars traded Michael Ryder and a 3rd Round pick to the Canadiens for Erik Cole

I always liked Ryder especially in his first stint with the team but wasn't the line of Cole starting to show some signs of life

SJ scores within like 20 seconds vs the Avs. Just terrible. Avalanche killed by injuries and unlike the Senators can't find ways to win

Despite putting up a solid 35 goals last year he got off to a really slow start this year with netting only 6 points to his name thus far. You also have to bare in mind that he's got 2 years left on his contract, which amounts to a $4.5 million dollar cap hit I believe...

Concussion woes have literally dismantled Gagnes trade value...

Re: The Official 2013 (we missed 2012) NHL Season Thread
Holy shit the Flames and their GM Jay Feaster are stupid.
They gave Ryan O'Reilly an offer sheet that was eventually matched by the Avalanche, however, if the Avs didn't match, the Flames would have had to give up a 1st and 3rd round pick.
What the Flames didn't realize, apparently, is that because O'Reilly played 2 games in the KHL after the NHL season started he would have had to clear waivers before being able to join the Flames (he surely would have been claimed by another team).
So if the Avalanche hadn't matched the offer sheet, the Flames would have lost a 1st and 3rd round pick as well as likely not getting O'Reilly.
It's mind boggling how an NHL team could make such an oversight.

I went to my first NHL game last week, Flames vs Kings. It was fun, but the Flames are not a pretty team to watch right now.
