yes people call dirk a choker and people call romo a choker, the fact that people on the internet have accused both men of being chokers means nothing.

peyton manning is a much better comparison to dirk than tony romo imo. manning and dirk are both chokers who have both put up almost unheard of monster stats, and both spent time in the discussion for #1 overall best player at their respective sport. manning and dirk also have championship rings, something romo will never have.

tony romo is much more in the vein of a tracy mcgrady or vince carter style choker. the guy is supposed to be good according to espn, and maybe flashes greatness every now and then, maybe for a season or two he is a top 10 player in the league...... but we all know he will never have real playoff success.

Dirk hasn't even come close to doing this.

Yeah the comparison for Peyton would be like Wilt or something...maybe even Jordan to some...not Dirk

If Romos career ended right now then yes he would be a McGrady or Carter, but as if right now I think it is exactly like Dirk pre Championship...no he doesn't have an MVP but no one, and I mean NO ONE, not even in Dallas, thought that Dirk was actually the MVP.

after the Mavs lost 1st round to GS everyone thought Dirk should give it to someone else...I was the only in here defending him by saying it is just a regular season award, he was on the team with best record, etc...I literally felt like it was me against all of ISH when he won MVP...

the year before I am not sure, how many votes did he get?

here kent:

It’s an unfair scenario because the embarrassment that Dirk and other Mavs’ officials will feel next week when he receives this award is relatively dependent on his teammates playing poorly. But life is unfair. The MVP entails not only individual performance and how that relates to victories for his team, but also what that player does for his teammates to translate good team play to wins. Let’s say along with the aforementioned averages, Dirk had 6.5 assists per game. That’s even stronger.

Brady is more comparable to Larry legend than Manning.

Insanely good at what they do, Smartness & IQ, Extremely Clutch and more importantly WILL to Win

Tom Brady is the closest thing to Larry Bird than anyother sports person!

I was referring to the Magic-Bird rival. Bird fell short in the playoffs a lot similar to Manning, but he did have dominant games. Magic dominated in the playoffs a lot and had some chokes as well like Brady.

Have to agree about the Dirk thing. Dirk even tweeted last year when Romo played like garbage in a game.

Quote:
"Dear tony romo. Don't worry abt all the critics," Nowitzki wrote on his Twitter account. "I heard that same garbage for a long time. Keep working hard and keep improving."

Dirk was a dominant player in the league. One of the very best. People just didn't think he was MVP (the most dominant). That's not Romo at all.

It doesn't have to be Rom for the comparison to work.

BOTTOM LINE: NO ONE THOUGHT DIRK COULD EVER WIN A RING BECAUSE HE WAS A CHOKER.

Romo is a 3 time probowler and a top 10 QB in a league that is 5x bigger than the NBA...he is close enough in skill to where you can say " Dirk proved everyone wrong, so maybe Romo can"

Despite what retarded fans think, he isn't even close to Mark Sanchez, he is actually a very skilled QB, he is top 3 ALL TIME in passer rating, the names on that list are elite names.

Well that's not true. The vote happened after the Colts/Pats game in November of 2009. Manning was 1st team all-pro in 2009, and 2012. That would be 2 first team all pro selections. Not that accolades truly mean much besides the opinion of writers who have their own biases.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
I enjoyed that quote from Tarkenton. I also enjoyed these from earlier this year.

Quote:
God, they look the same. But they’re not. I saw Peyton do things against the Falcons I’ve never seen him do before. He threw into coverage, he looked like he was confused and didn’t quite have the arm strength. Brady hasn’t looked like Brady in two years. And that’s what happens.”

Quote:
Tarkenton goes onto talk about how quarterbacks are playing at a younger age these days specifically mentioning Robert Griffin II, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and our very own Christian Ponder who Tarkenton believes “will be a star in this league.”

Don't forget these quotes from that article.

Quote:
Warren Moon said that two years ago he might have said Brady, but now he must factor in the reconstructive knee surgery

Quote:
Kelly’s reasoning: “Before this season I would’ve gone with Brady, but he’s coming back from a major injury. Tom in his prime, it gets no better

Quote:
Sonny Jurgensen said he was very conflicted about whom to pick due to his longstanding relationship with the Manning family, and ultimately he couldn’t go against Peyton.

or how bout the quotes from the senile old men

Quote:
Then there's Clarence (Ace) Parker, who at 97, is the oldest living member of the Hall of Fame. We spoke to him with the help of his longtime friend, Buddy Lex. Although golf is a little more Parker's speed these days, the man who hit a home run in his first Major League Baseball at-bat (yes, he was Bo Jackson before Bo Jackson) says he still watches a little football. "I think the best quarterback is Peyton Manning. Others have their opinion, but that's my thought. Peyton is the best."

Quote:
Trippi is 86 years old, and according to his wife, loves to watch Manning.

But hey, lets use this poll as a argument for Manning because there is nothing better than the opinions of guys like Tarkenton, and a 97 year old man. Not to mention Brady coming back from injury still being on the mind of these voters.
