Default Someone shed some light on the Kings situation for me

The Kings are moving to Seattle, based on what I'm seeing.

I saw this tweet:

The plan has always been for the franchise to reclaim the Sonics name upon returning to Seattle.

So does this mean that, as of next season, the Kings franchise will cease to exist?

Also, I want to know what Kings fans are thinking right now. I'm not a fan, but as someone who loves NBA history, I am bummed out at the idea of one of the oldest NBA teams no longer existing.

It means that it will no longer be in Sacramento although I am sure the history of the franchise will travel to Seattle. The Sonics do not get their history back from OKC based on some agreement.

actually the agreement was to share history, and okc doesnt even retire any of the seattle players anyways.

But at the same time they didn't allow Kendrick Perkins to wear his usual # 43 from the Celtics.

That number was retired in Seattle in honor of the great Jack Sikma.

Or maybe it could be Perkins chose to wear a different number when he got traded to OKC.
