So it's only considered "art" or "quality" when it's some rapper showcasing a wide vocabulary or talking about the struggle huh?

No. That's not what "art" is. Just because Wiz Khalifa's music isn't exactly the same as a rapper you would consider "talented" doesn't mean that he isn't an artist. Lyrical content is only one facet of music as a whole. You have to listen for more than just that one thing. Different musicians bring different things to the table. Everyone can't focus on deep lyrics and social awareness. If that were the case, there would be even less variety in rap music than there is now.

there is a difference between art and entertainment. not all music has to be art to have success. They don't call it the art business, its the "entertainment" business for a reason.

Stuff like Juicy J and 2 Chainz should be taking at face value, goofy, funny and entertaining to listen to lightheartedly. It is far from art but nobody said it was in the first place

Some valid points here.

Number one reason i dont like wiz is that i dont like his voice, it sounds too "chill" for my taste.

Anyway these cats get bailed out by the producers that make the hot/party beats. The real art (music) is being made by someone else in most cases. The rappers are just a mere image that sells. Wiz is no different.

BTW is quite disturbing to be at a party and 15 year old virgins (females) to scream "taylor gang, taylor gang"

I like how in a thread about a musician not one time is it mentioned how he sounds. He is popular because he has a nice voice and a nice flow.

Just FYI guys.. how stuff sounds is important in music.

I said multiple times that he has good beat selection. Last time I checked that has to do with how music sounds.

he got filthy rich and got lazy but already had built a big enough fanbase where he can live off his early music

if what he's puttin out now was his come up material, he'd be a no one

Not a Bieber fan, but the unlike most of the industry the dude is talented. You may hate him or his music, but he's a well rounded talent. Maybe not the best at specific things, but still talented nonetheless.

I can't figure how any of these guys like Drake, Lil Wayne, and Wiz get so popular. Have you ever seen these guys perform live? It's borderline embarrassing. Definition of studio rappers.

He almost has 10 million followers. He really has blown up. His songs are catchy. I'll give him that. But he does as everyone says just raps about his success and money in onifc.
