Wait, are you trying to say Pau was actually close to Kobe? Or even better?

Good stuff!

BTW I'm not sure if you saw my thread a few weeks ago, but Nikola/Gorba from nbastats.net asked me to try to get a hold of you to see if you want to join our group (Nikola noted that from lurking on this board that you've been doing a lot of extensive research from a variety of sources for a long time). If you're interested, e-mail me at fpliii@stanford.edu (three i's, same as my username) and I'll forward your message to them (alternatively you can e-mail Gorba at gorba77@interia.pl, though I don't think Nikola wants his address posted around the web).

Apologies for bothering you, but you'd be a great addition to our team (I would've PMed you, but I think your box is full).

Let's just forget the battles in the Western Conference?

2000 Playoffs - First 3 Rounds
Kobe - 22.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 4.4 APG, .464 FG%
Shaq - 28.2 PPG, 15.0 RPG, 3.4 APG, .546 FG%

2001 Playoffs - First 3 Rounds
Kobe - 31.6 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 6.3 APG, .492 FG%
Shaq - 29.3 PPG, 15.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, .547 FG%

In general, I think the ECF/WCF are severely undervalued. When looking at players' careers, their performances in the last two rounds of the playoffs stand out significantly to me. I think bad matchups can give you trouble occasionally, but more often than not we're gonna see the best four teams making the NBA's final four.

If you actually watched the games, you will see the double teaming all teams used on Shaq, Kobe should have shot much better percentages.

Kobe is the greatest performer in WCF history. 7-1 record and not one dud as a starter.

way to cherry pick the worst stat line from Kobe and then try to call him out..

Lets just ignore the 32 ppg on 49%. 3 pts more than shaq

and the 24 4 4 on 46% 21 years old

Kobe was also great in 4th quarters/overtime. Here's something I put together (not to pimp my own thread, but there are some interesting numbers):

22.8 PPG rounds to 24 PPG?

Never said Kobe wasn't great, just saying him slightly outscoring Shaq in 2002 is relatively unimpressive given the FG%
