Default Why Isn't Miami a Dominant Team?

No potshots about the Lakers, this is about the Heat.

Back when the decision happened everyone thought the NBA was on lock for the next 5 years. Flo Rida making songs about how they already won, LeBron saying 10 championships were on the way etc. They are a good team and a contender...but not some all time juggernaught which everyone thought they'd be

.... they've never really looked THAT dominant. They been challenged well by old and young teams in the playoffs and their records haven't been impressive either.

Don't give me that the positions of the Big 3 are redundant(there was a little team called the 90's Bulls built around a Big 3 SG, SF, and PF). 2 different PF's in fact. No one's saying they should be that dominant, but let's be honest they have been underwhelming.

Because they don't have a lot of size in the paint, and they cruise most of the regular season. They are a team built around 3 guys. It's not like the old school Celtic, Bulls and Laker teams where they have all the talent in the world. Most of the players are MLE and vet min guys that serve their purpose.

Besides, Miami has made the Finals twice in a row and won a title. They seem fine to me.

They made the finals two seasons ago.
They won last season.
They currently have the best record in the east.

But these facts don't matter because they don't "look" dominant?

They get Tyson Chandler or a player his caliber down low and no one will ever be able to stop them.

I thought with Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen they would be murdering teams though, maybe they're waiting for playoffs to turn it on.

Pretty dominant if you ask me. They dont even have a centre yet they have been the best team since their formation

Two years together to trips to the finals is dominate enough for me. all though they do play sloppy and lazy at times, other times they down to the level of their competition

They have been dominant and unless they are struggling to make the playoff (they aren't and are number 1 seed right now) you shouldn't put much weight at all into the regular season.

I think they have been dominant.

They beat OKC 4-1. OKC was a great team last year.

They beat Boston without Bosh for 75% of the series.

They beat Indian without Bosh for 95% of the series.

...and their next best big man after Bosh is Udonis Haslem. And after him comes Joel Anthony. LOL.

How is that not dominant and highly impressive?

I think you're getting caught up in their regular season records.

Miami won a championship basically on the backs of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. I'd call that dominant. They didn't even need an elite center or deep bench to go all the way. This season they may make their 3rd Finals in a row and repeat as champs.

As far as the 80's Laker and Celtic teams, those teams clearly had more overall talent, and arguably even relative to their era, but it was still a different time.

Teams pretty much had to be stacked to win a title in the 80's, not just the Lakers and Celtics, but look at the '83 Sixers and Bad Boy Pistons.

But why are you grouping in the Bulls with those teams? I wouldn't even say the Bulls were the most talented team from top to bottom the majority of years they won titles, and it's debatable if they ever were. Maybe '97, and a case can be made for '96 and '92 as well.

Just about every single team postseason team they play has better rebounding, post defense and post scoring yet they are still the best team because no one can touch their perimeter play.

Because both Lebron and Wade fail in the clutch. They try to make Shane Battier take half court shots so the blame doesnt fall on either of them.
