Shump tore both his ACL and his MCL.
The difference is, Shump is a good role player for the Knicks. Rose is the franchise player, that makes a ton more money than him.

Rose strengthened his hamstrings so that the healing would take a lot less time. By that logic, Rose should have been back around the same time, or even earlier.
The point is, the Bulls FO aren't taking ANY chances. He needs to be cleared by like 90 doctors (exaggerating), and they have to be sure 200% that he's ready.

Whose the best player the Knicks have had? Patrick Ewing? I'd consider him among the top centers of all time, but he hasn't made the Finals.
