Flacco was great during the entire post season, this is very true, he should get his props but to the point that it undermines the fact that he plays on a 53 man team complete with coaching staff that was equally amazing...

let's look at some others for a sec...what do we have?

-SF and BAL might have the 2 best o-lines in the NFL...or at least both are top-5...they are a huge part of their QB's success

-Willis and Bowman and Aldon Smith...IS THIS THE GREATEST TRIO OF 4-3 LBS EVER!!!???...could be

-Lewis, Suggs, Upshaw, Kruger...lol...these guys are amazing

-Ngata...Reed....both HOFers

-anyone notice how Boldin became one of the most clutch catchers in the league?...the guy is actually underrated as a WR now

-Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones...Ray Rice...THESE ARE A MONSTER ARSENAL FOR ANY QB

-Gore was amazing this year...as was Crabtree...

V.Davis and Pitta both great TEs

in fact, where is there a weakness for either of these teams?...they are both STACKED...top to bottom

but let's just focus on Flacco...

This is not your point. Your point is and always has been that you want Tony Romo to get recognition tha QBs who both put put stats and win games get also.

Flacco had a fantastic postseason. You talk about olines, etc. but the fact is the ONLY indispensable piece on Baltimore was Flacco. They just changed linemen a few weeks ago.

And as far as only the qb getting accoladx, have you missed the two week retirement celebration for Ray Lewis?

I think you are overrating alot of the guys. Lewis was awful in the Superbowl and everyone knows he's a shell of his former self and Suggs didn't make a huge impact this year due to his injury.

And you completely overrated the Ravens receiving core. Boldin is a solid WR but he's not a #1 and at this point of his career he's pretty much a physical receiver(had a great postseason). Jacoby Jones is extremely subpar and Smith is pretty much a deep threat only. Pitta is a solid TE but great? Don't discredit Flacco because he played his dick off..

The Niners are a stacked team but they do have some weaknesses. First, niners play in a 3-4. Willis and Bowman is a great set of ILB's and possibly one of the greatest ever. Smith is a great player but he's heavily reliant on Justin Smith and without him he looked very human, he's kind of 1 dimensional as he's not nearly as good in the run defense as he is in the pass rush . 49ers have a very suspect secondary as well.

he isn't less indispensable as most other QB on any team...put Brady of that team, maybe he doesn't under throw Jacoby Jones...

hell, does Flacco even win a ring without Jacoby Jones last night?...probably not...Jacoby Jones = INDISPENSABLE!!!

perhaps the Ravens don't make the post season without Lewis...or Ngata or Rice...there is no way to know really

I do think that entire o-line as a whole is every bit as important as Flacco himself...maybe moreso

lol, Lewis led the entire NFL post season in tackles with 51, next in line was Graham with 32...he isn't 2000 Lewis, but he is still a top-5 MLB

Suggs was also prime Suggs in the post season...I guess you weren't watching him?...he was awesome

Ray Lewis had almost as many tackles this post season as Willis and Bowman combined...

Suggs clearly wasn't his prime self this post-season. Even he has said hes not back to being his usual self.

He was asked who the best pas rusher in the superbowl was, and his anwer was "Well, If I'm healthy....." suggesting that he is not at full health.

are you sure he wasn't saying he is healthy...he was saying "me" ???

Suggs was a force throughout the post season...he had 10 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble against Denver

It's like to the media, this was just a tennis match between Kap and Flacco last night...

Basically what it seems like is that if Brady, Peyton, Brees, or Rodgers wins the Super Bowl, then we can praise them with all the adulation in the world. If another QB wins the SB, then it was the team who carried them.

Meanwhile Brady hasn't won since 2004 when he last had an elite defense. Peyton only won 1 SB, and that year his defense absolutely carried for most of the postseason. Brees hasn't won again since his defense got shittier, and neither has Rodgers.

you "THEIR TEAMS HAVEN'T WON" right?

did you ever think it was possible that these QBs win and lose games as teams and not based on how they played at an individual level?

W/L = TEAM STAT

the fact that so many people use W/L as a QB stat is the entire problem...people need to stop doing that

Yea I do. I know it's a team sport. That doesn't mean the quarterback doesn't play a larger role than most other positions.

Default Re: Wish people didn't make this all about the QBs

The QB plays the biggest role on the team...this is true

but it is still the best team that wins, not the best QB...Flacco is not the best QB in the NFL...not even close IMO...the Ravens as a team played amazing football, Flacco included...

If I had to guess at how big of a role the average QB makes on a team I would say around 10%-15% or so...depending on the team and the QB of course...for someone like Peyton on the Colts maybe as high as 20%-30%...but Dilfer on the Ravens like 5%...

the amount a QB means to a team should probably equal to the amount of money he makes in respect to the entire team's salary...

so if the salary cap is $120 million, and a QB makes $12 mill of that...he is seen 10% of the team's success...or at least that is how it should work out if all was fair.
